Meet Jennifer L. Johnson a Concierge Real Estate Agent in Central Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer L. Johnson.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
From the time I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a talk-show host. When I moved to New York City at the age of 20, I figured this was my chance to make that dream come true. Through New York University where I was studying liberal arts (my accountant father had a lot to say about that!), I secured an internship at NBC- the network- in the advertising and promotion department. 20-years-old and writing copy for Tom Brokaw, Bryant Gumble, etc.! I was too young (and naive) to fully realize how special that really was. Ultimately, my talk show dream took a backseat as I happily continued in the behind-the-scenes creative services field. Fun. Fun. Fun. But after 20 years and numerous job locations, it was time to make a change.

For the next 10 years, I worked in corporate marketing. It wasn’t nearly as exciting and creative as television, but it was a solid career and paid the bills. Not quite a ringing endorsement!

Fast forward to the day I turned 50. I hit the reset button (don’t worry, I kept my sweet husband) and made a huge change. I wanted a career that provided flexibility, creativity, spontaneity but most importantly, I wanted to help people. Real estate was the PERFECT choice for me. I love every aspect of it even when it’s challenging. And it can be very challenging, but that only makes it more rewarding.

My only regret? I’m sorry I didn’t get into real estate sooner.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Real estate is a relationship business. Relationships take time, attention and nurturing to build. This doesn’t happen overnight. Persistence, patience, and faith that hard work pays off helped me stay focused and never lose sight of my goals.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
As you can probably guess, there are many, many real estate agents in Houston. It’s my service that sets me apart. That’s why I call myself a concierge real estate agent. I’m hyper-responsive, super protective, a tough negotiator, on-call 24/7/365 and ALWAYS puts my client’s needs first. My one and only goal is to provide white-glove service every step of the way. I am ALWAYS at their service.

What’s a concierge real estate agent? I’ll make appointments and meet the contractor, cable person, plumber, cleaners, etc. at the property. There’s no need for my clients to take off work. I’m available to do the leg work of buying, selling and moving. Heck, I’ll even change the battery in the beeping smoke detector.

I also understand and respect the fact that buying or selling is probably one of the biggest financial decisions anyone will ever make. It can be stressful and confusing at times, but I’m here to take on that burden and be my client’s rock.

What were you like growing up?
My childhood was full of fun and laughter. I’m a Houston native, but my father worked for Dow Chemical so we moved around. All a very good thing. It taught me to be outgoing and how to make friends easily. In fact, we lived in Korea for almost two years when I was in elementary school. I am so fortunate for that experience. It really taught me to see the world in a more open, accepting way.

I wanted to be a talk show host when I grew up. Hence, my love of working in TV.
