Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Metz.
Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When the economy took a downturn in 2008-2009 my husband and I decided to take a leap of faith. On the list of requirements for this leap of faith were jobs, warmer weather and more opportunity for growth. We set off in April 2009 from Clarkston Michigan to arrive in Houston Texas. I secured a job as a stylist in a small up-scale Katy salon and my husband continued to search for a fresh new Mechanical Design job with more stability then the tanking automotive industry that we left behind. It took 7 months til he finally got his break.
I moved around a bit to find the right salon for me. The clientele was wonderful and before I knew it I was in demand! In 2011, I was ready to go out on my own renting a suite in a nearby salon mall. Running my own business was wonderful! I booked my own appointments, bought all the color I needed and was able to come and go as I pleased. I would never work for an employer again!
In January 2013, Pink Salon grew into a full-fledged salon in an independent location. The idea was planted in my head not long after that that location was opened the direction I wanted to go with my business. I’ve found that the happiest professionals in my business thrive when given freedom to do their craft their own way. Pink Salon LLC provides an inviting space for Salon Pros to work together and support each other while working the hours of their choosing, managing their own clientele and using whatever products they believe in. In a booth rental atmosphere, we are all on the same level playing field that each one of us has earned. We enjoy the ability to consult with one another and at the same time have the creative freedoms to make our own decisions.
Pink Salon LLC is now located on the border of Cypress/Tomball on Eldridge Pkwy. We are hoping to stay in this location for many years to come!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been bumps in the road at many points along the way. The biggest struggle was the need to leave our home state for a better life and more opportunity. I can definitely say that our leap of faith was a good one; as we have both reached levels in Houston that were impossible to accomplish in the economy we were in.
Pink Salon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pink Salon LLC is a Hair salon comprised of Independent Beauty professionals. We have room for skin, nails, waxing, hair and lash extensions. We currently have 4 stylists who specialize in Coloring, dimensional Highlighting and Lowlighting, Brazilian Blowouts, Keratin Treatments, Hair cutting for Men, Women and Children, Eyelash Extensions, Hair Extensions and last but not least Facial Waxing. Our salon is established with stylists who have built up their own clientele. Being a booth rental salon does set us apart from many others with a relaxed, knowledgeable and cheerful environment that both the clients and stylist appreciate. We have a combined level of experience that can only enhance the achievable results for each and every client. We will often brainstorm in the color room to determine the best possible approach for our clients. This type of atmosphere makes working in this business both rewarding and enjoyable. I think I can speak for all the girls and say that we all like to come to work!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success wears many different hats, but to me after 24 years in the business, success lies in personal satisfaction. Success to me, is when there is a balance of all. More than my business of Pink Salon, my hats I wear include Wife, Mommy, Daughter, Sister, Hair stylist, Business Owner, Neighbor Extraordinaire and my hobby as Interior Decorator. These components of life are all very important to my personal balance. When I have time to take care of my clients, paint a piece of furniture on my day off, take vacations or relax in the backyard, spend the weekend with friends and family success at life is complete. You can be a success at whatever you do in life as long as you love what you do and it covers your needs.

I love Pink Salon! When I moved to Houston my biggest fear was not finding a hair stylist. Lucky for me I found Jennifer Metz. Jennifer is awesome, my hair cuts and color are always perfect.
