Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Burroughs.
Jenny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I wanted to create a space off the beaten path that had a small town, slow pace feeling but with all the luxuries of a high-end salon. There’s so much hustle and bustle in Houston, I like our clients to feel like they can kick there shoes off and stay a while they relax and get pampered.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been fairly smooth going. We have had an amazing response from clients and are constantly getting new clients with so many people moving to the north side from other states and cities. We always hear that Indigo reminds them of something from “back home”
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in hair color, cuts and special styling. As well as makeup application. We are hoping to add a massage or facial person sometime soon! We are probably best loved for our complimentary Mimosas and Bloody Mary and our cozy but elegant atmosphere.
What were you like growing up?
Extremely awkward but very driven. I don’t take orders well and have a hard time working for anyone, so naturally opening my own business was the only option. Being self-employed definitely has its down sides, and you really never have a day off but it is so rewarding I wouldn’t change it for anything!
