Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Eaton.
Jeremiah, before we jump into specific questions about the organization, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started my freshmen year of college after graduating from Madison High School. I was diagnosed with stage 2 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer my freshman year of college. Resulting in getting medically discharged from school where I was on a dual scholarship for football & track. Moved back to Houston immediately to start treatment at MD Anderson Mays Clinic. I stand on my faith and my foundation is very strong and supportive. I had to undergo a back procedure, two neck surgeries and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. With the possibility of never playing ball again in my head I turned that into something to live for. Went on to beat cancer in 114 days and was given the opportunity to play football again at Wayland Baptist University where I went on to break the school record. named Offensive MVP and being placed into the Wall of Fame. Going through this trial and seeing how under represented teenage & young adult cancer patients are, lit a fire in me. I’ve dedicated my life to helping & assisting teenage/young adult cancer patients through mentor ship, financial assistance and the small things that matter like blankets, socks, etc. (Jeremiah Eaton Foundation) Also am a High School Football Coach at Episcopal High School of Dallas along side Troy Aikman, looking to become the next Head Coach at my Alma Matter James Madison High School in Hiram Clarke, Houston.
The Foundation Apparel Co. was created to bring people together by taking a trip in the life of someone else’s life through documentary. With 20% of apparel proceeds going to the mission of the Jeremiah Eaton Foundation.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve learned in my 25 years of living that no road will be smooth. Mindset is key and that is what I preach to everyone around me, it’s not about where you’re going it’s about where your trying to go. I didn’t look at anything as a struggle but a lesson or obstacle.
Please tell us about the organization.
My job in these two projects are similar in ways, using the platform to bring people together through real life situations. Being able to speak to people of any age or ethnicity whether they have cancer or not is amazing. It’s like watering flowers and just watching them grow beyond their wildest imagination. I am most proud that I can help change lives the best way I know how but what sets me apart is that I lived this journey, I’ve lived the life that these patients are living today, they are my Family, we are all Family!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Doing what you love is success, money is cool and all but being truly happy with what your doing is priceless. I’m focused on working for the people, Life is nothing without each other!
