I have spent the majority of my young adult life completely consumed with the idea that I can create any vision I have in my mind. When I attended college at Prairie View A&M University, I would sit in class and create business plans for all of my ideas. While I was in school I was introduced to the owner of a well-respected black-owned travel agency, who to this day. I respect as my business mentor. At a very young age, I learned what I deemed as the true success of life. That success is obtained by tapping into doing what you truly enjoy in your heart and watering and nurturing that seed. That seed will grow and produce the fruit your life requires.
That seed for me is blogging and banana pudding. LOL
GettoknowJessieO.com is a haven of curvy style, travel and lifestyle pleasantries. It also features stories of local women business owners.
Jesspudding.com satisfies your sweet tooth and fulfills my urge to create in the kitchen. This sweet boutique came to be purely by happenstance. I hi-jacked my mother’s banana pudding recipe and layered in my favorite desserts like banana foster’s cheesecake. Did I mention the scratch made bourbon sauce? I would make these treats for my friend’s parties and my co-workers until they started paying me to do it. Just like that jesspudding was born!
Has it been a smooth road?
It absolutely has NOT been a smooth road for me! I have had several businesses that have given me the full package of entrepreneurship highs and lows. Luckily there is always a lesson to be learned in business. I have encountered the luxury of Failure. Failure is truly how you succeed and it makes your journey worth it in the grand scheme of it all. Failure is an essential part of my story and it allows me to remain humble and work harder to get to the next level.

GettoknowJessieO.com is a haven for my favorite curvy style picks, my documented travel diaries from the Essence festival and lifestyle pleasantries like summer cocktail recipes. It also features stories of local women business owners like Sharita Humphrey, financial educator and counselor who tells us how to get our money affairs in order.
Jesspudding.com is a sweet boutique featuring dessert infused banana pudding. I hi-jacked my mother’s banana pudding recipe and layered in my favorite desserts like banana foster’s cheesecake, peanut butter bars, pecan pie cheesecake, and red velvet cake just to name a few flavors. Delivery is available in the local Houston area.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Blogging is a huge market, especially for women. I definitely want the trend to continue of real women with real life experiences and real bodies to tell the stories and sell the major brands.
Jesspudding is at the ahead of the curve when it comes to the dessert business. I can’t wait to see in the next five years how dessert infused banana pudding is a staple at all special events and celebrations.
