Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Rodriguez.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started with the thought of wanting to have a platform, a platform that will allow me to have a voice to inspire others, especially women. In the blogger world, I wanted more women that looked like me. I wanted to reach women that needed a boost of confidence, or that simply wanted to feel inspired to go for that dream /goal in their minds.
I am so here for women empowerment, for cheering on our women for their talents, for their hard work and dedication. I created my blog with the intention of not only putting outfits together but recognizing that looking good helps us feel good on the inside.
Beauty comes from skin deep. I have received so much support from other bloggers and from family and friends. I am headed in the right direction! I want to be a voice for the younger generation of women, women of color, Latinas. I want to know that I have left my mark on this world.
Raised in a single-parent home, there were struggles, many people who didn’t believe my sister and I could make it but my story is only defined by me, my story is still being written and so far I am loving where it’s going.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It can be a very tricky, embarking on this journey requires dedication, consistency and heart! I have struggled with the consistency aspect of the journey, with my fulltime job and planning my wedding, but when I am on it, it is a rewarding feeling, receiving feedback is amazing. You know its worth it when someone says “keep it coming”. The goal is to continue, it is never too late to get back on! People are waiting to see what’s next and that fuels me!
XO Jessica Josephine – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My blog and Instagram account contain a little bit of everything, from fashion to traveling and inspiration based posts. I am using the platform I have created to go beyond an outfit, beyond a smile, beyond a product but reach the person reading it at a much deeper level. I have never been the best at small talk, I thrive in deeper conversations, conversations with substance.
I want to talk about what others are avoiding such as immigration and even my faith in Christ. I want to make my readers and followers on Instagram feel like I am their friend and through my posts, we are having a conversation. I want to build a sisterhood, friendships and spread the love! Eventually, I want to write a book for women and hold a women’s conference, I am going all in with this vision of mine!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My success may not be what others define as success; we all consider success to be different depending on our perspective of life. The way I define success for myself is achieving what my heart has desired, fulfilling my purpose in life. I created the blog and use my Instagram to be keys to fulfilling my purpose in life.
I know when I am reaching success when I see traffic on my blog coming in when I get DMs or comments from women relating to my post. My success is defined by knowing that what I am doing now is helping others and inspiring others. Success is creating opportunities for my future children!
