Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Terrell.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Prepped By Jess started as a meal prepping side hustle and very quickly became a full-blown business in February 2017. We offer Meal Prep, Personal Chef & Catering Services. Cooking has always been apart of my life because from a young age, my father embedded the soul of southern cooking into our household. I always knew cooking was a passion of mine, but it wasn’t until my dad got diagnosed with cancer in 2016 that I decided to become a health-conscious chef. I started out with close friends and family by prepping their meals and providing them with various healthy alternatives to traditional southern dishes.
I know I was put here on this earth to inspire people and, more than anything, help feed souls. My calling is to help transform people, starting with what you feed your body. Once you change the diet, the lifestyle is inevitable. I’m here to testify that through consistency, diligence, prayer and faith, I have been able to make it through every obstacle life has thrown in my way. The journey as a business owner isn’t for the faint nor the weak but I’ve learned over time that God can do just what He said He would do!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey of pursuing your passion is never easy. I won’t put it out there as if this has all been a cake walk. I’ve dealt with situational depression since 2015 and have had to overcome those personal battles. I also lost my dad in 2018 and wanted to give up on a lot of things I had going on. These factors certainly can take a toll on anyone.
Prepped By Jess – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We offer meal prepping, personal chef and catering services. Over our three years of business, we have built up a rapport with our clients where they know us for our professionalism and willingness to cater to specific dietary needs. We are known for providing healthy food that is always seasoned and caters towards whatever your health goal is. The heart of our business beats around our meal preps. We pride ourselves in letting our food make a difference in your life. What sets us apart is the soul. You can taste the soul in the seasoning. You can’t get this out of your local grocery store.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career has been seeing my very own mother go through a weight loss journey of her own. Not only has she lost weight, inches and whole clothing size, but she did it solely by relying on my meal preps!
