Meet Jimmy Ellis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Ellis.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m a photographer, videographer, content creator, listener, and a storyteller.

I’ve shot photos for local bands throughout Texas and Oklahoma and national bands Blue October, Mute Math, and Evans Blue. I’ve captured engagement and wedding ceremonies and I also have a youtube series that documents artists here in Houston, Texas called ‘creators.’

Whether its photography or videography my passion is always in the story.

We’d love to hear more about your work, please tell us about your art.
My art would mainly be my photography. I capture photos in many different categories, Portrait, Landscape, industrial, long exposure, etc… I try to capture moments that are missed or ignored by accident. When I capture a moment, I try and share the beauty in the story. By sharing I’m trying to inspire people to take moments in their day to enjoy something they might have missed before. As far as my artwork I try and bring the story out of it across all types of photography.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
One main piece of advice that I would give anyone is to welcome the failures and losses. It is a natural reaction to have failure or loss give you negative impact. You must change your mindset to see any type of failure or loss to be opportunities to learn and grow. In my early years of photography, I failed at this, and it did impact my work because I become my worst enemy so after doing this for so long I’ve changed my mindset and I’ve learned so much more and have grown as an artist.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I am very active on instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/jimmyephotography ) I do have my own website www.jimmyephotography.com.

If you would like to support my art follow me on my socials and reach out if you would like to work together.
