Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Holland.
Jonathan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m originally from Louisiana. Mangham, Louisiana to be exact. A little over five years ago, I decided to make Houston, Texas my new home after spending five years living in northern California. Those five years I spent living out my childhood dream of playing professional football in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders after being drafted by the late great Mr. Al Davis. It was a tremendous blessing and honor to have such a phenomenal opportunity to be apart of such a historical organization. The entire experience was truly one for the record books and it will always have a place in my heart. It also leads me to begin my journey towards my true passion to help others in any way that I can through: physical fitness training, health and wellness services, community services such as youth mentoring, and overall well being.
Has it been a smooth road?
It absolutely was not in any shape, form, or fashion a smooth transition after retiring from the NFL. There were countless struggles that I had to overcome until I was able to finally find what my next career move was going to be. I faced depression, anxiety issues, and trying to figure out my true identity after leaving the game.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Holland Health & Wellness is a company that is centered around helping to improve the overall healthy lifestyle of individuals. The specialized services that I provide are:
Physical fitness training and nutritional guidance through my personal training entity, Holland Hard Bodies in which I gained my Knowledge and certifications from NASM, National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Youth mentoring programs/curriculums for middle schools male students. Youth athletic mentoring is available for both male and female students seeking to make that next step towards the collegiate level. I am a Certified Life Coach.
I am most proud of having the ability to walk into any setting whether it be in a classroom, onto a football field, track, sports court, or a professional corporation and make a positive impact of the lives of others.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think that Houston is the absolute best place for businesses like mine. This city was built on hard work, dedication, hustle, but most importantly it was built on people always reaching back to give to others and help one another out in any way possible.
