Meet Jordan Mitchell of Jordan Mitchell Photography in Atascocita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Mitchell.

Jordan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is a little unimpressive. I bought my first camera with all of my high school graduation money and took pictures of friends and flowers and other random things. When I got to college, people were always dressing up for banquets and formals, and I was always the go-to person for taking pictures of my friends with their dates and group photos. One day, I got asked to take some head shots for an acquaintance who was auditioning for some plays. She asked me how much I would charge her. All of the sudden, I realized I could get paid to do something I actually liked. I added a minor in photography to my degree plan, continued with my college education, graduated with my degree in Early Childhood Development, and worked some odd jobs, until I decided to officially launch my business in 2016.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think any creative person feels a constant internal struggle (or at least any creative person that is also an enneagram type 4). Since photography is visual, comparison is so easy and so readily available. All of my struggles have been based around emotions: feelings of “I’m not good enough” or “I’m not as good as him/her, I should give up now.” Luckily, I have a wonderful support system of people who don’t easily fall into emotional traps like me, who pull me into the realm of logic, reason, and positive thoughts.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jordan Mitchell Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business focuses on portrait photography, primarily weddings, engagements, and lifestyle sessions. My desire to help people commemorate all of the things that God is doing in their life. I try to balance shooting the candid moments, but also making sure to get that photo that your mom wants on her mantle (you know, the one of both of you smiling and looking at the camera.) It always makes me so proud when I see clients printing their photos or sharing them with others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that Houston has so much variety. Each portion of the city is so different than the other. I dislike driving from each of these little sections but isn’t that everyone’s favorite complaint?!
