Meet Josh York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh York.

Hi Josh, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Starting back in February of 2020, I was trying to decide what I wanted to do as far as a career since it was my last year in the military, considering my background in entertainment and my fascination with podcasts, I started recording myself talking about my spiritual journey and how it was navigating through this major transition not only in my career but as a person entirely. Free Game Thee Podcast was then born, through these past two years the show has had many guests, and topics and has gone through many changes, including now being a video show that is now being offered through a subscription service with Spotify.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has definitely not been an easy road; from moving three times, equipment breaking down, not having a quiet place to record at times, and having to be a one-man crew to keep my show running smoothly and consistently, there were many times when I did not want to continue. However, through faith and the encouraging words of close friends, I take my time and put my heart and soul into my work, even if it isn’t a weekly show as I would like.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The running title that I like to go by when someone asks what I do, is Create Content with the intent to connect. Through art, poems, pictures, podcasts, and vlogs, I want to showcase my unique life to show that I am more like others than people realize, being my AUTHENTIC, multidimensional self will encourage everyone to be their true self.

I specialize in being a light worker, in the spiritual community. These are people who draw people in and show their inner light by being a reflection of the light that is within them. Also known as a human healer, which is a term I also go by, I believe if I can show how I am healing myself, others will do the same. Leading by example, if you will.

The fact that I came from such a structured background, even before the military, coming from a southern Christian background, it was always a struggle to be yourself without feeling guilty, I am very proud to be a Black, Gay male who is able to find community and connection with a variety of people.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the future, I would love to be on television as a host of a variety show that includes all of my interests, including Fashion, music, art, pop culture, spirituality, and even politics.
