Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan and Fatima Escobar.
Juan and Fatima, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
This started as a hobby for my family and I. Our interest in our Mexican heritage grew and it lead to the start of the business. This was our way of staying in touch with our roots and letting others know our culture.
Has it been a smooth road?
At the beginning things fell into place for us: the business, imports, and time. As we progressed we began facing difficult situations mostly over our merchandise. Lately that has been our biggest obstacle, the imports from Mexico. All of our store is imported things from Mexico and there have been some challenges but we have kept moving forward with out dream.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Escobar Moctezuma Trading story. Tell us more about the business.
Our business has the highest quality imported gardening and household decorations, as well as rustic furniture and traditional clothing. We specialize in Talavera and custom make anything in this. We take pride in our slogan in only having ‘The best of Mexico in Houston’. We treat our customers as part of our family as soon as they set foot in our business and we make sure they leave with a smile.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We see ourselves establishing in our own bigger building. Where we can showcase our Mexican culture as well as keep a Houston atmosphere.
