Meet Jumper Maybach of Jumper Maybach Fine Art in The Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jumper Maybach.

Jumper, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2012, I went into a deep meditation to overcome the bullying I was facing at my government job. When I came out of it, Jumper Maybach, my painting and clown face wearing alter-ego was born. As Jumper Maybach, I have participated in showcases all over the world. I have had my paintings shown in: Italy, Paris, Dubai, Spain, and Beverly Hills to name a few. I’ve also been the subject of a documentary on my life story, “The Jumper Maybach Story,” that has already won multiple awards at film festivals. Every piece of artwork that I create I strive to show the passion and meaning behind it. It begins with a spark of spirituality. Each painting is an effort for me to turn darkness and pain into something light and positive. All of my techniques are self-taught and I’m continually searching for new and different methods to try, always progressing. My art stands out because of the self-realization an individual experiences while viewing it, they develop a personal connection with the art almost instantaneously.

I now have my own gallery in the historic neighborhood the heights and I continue to share my art with the world in the hopes of spreading the message of tolerance and ending hate.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve definitely faced some challenges on this path. I didn’t have any experience with painting before this and so everything was a learning curve. My family and friends thought I was crazy. Also, the art world can be a very intimidating place so I really had to put myself out there. When a door opens, I don’t worry, I just go through it.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Jumper Maybach Fine Art Gallery is what I like to call a “boutique gallery.” We’re definitely a little different than most galleries. We specialize in contemporary abstracts with bold patterns and colors. We work with collectors and designers to find artwork that is a perfect fit. I’m most proud of our personal touches, how closely we work with our clients to make sure that they are having a great experience, and making art approachable. We like to offer something for everyone at every price point. We don’t just have original artwork, we have prints and t-shirts with the artwork on them. We are also an LGBTBE diversity certified business, and also active members of chambers of commerce, we like to be a part of our community.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is a great city, it has so much diversity and culture but we aren’t known for our art yet, I would love to see us have the kind of art reputation as some of the bigger cities, like New York of course, but we are definitely moving in the right direction. I would recommend setting up in Houston if you’re just starting out, there are a lot of great locations, close knit communities, and we keep getting better and better.

Pricing:

  • Original Artwork starts at $125
  • 11×14 Print $35
  • Art T-shirts start at $25
