Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Morehead & Zac Nicklas.
The Pool Boys was created in January of 2011 when childhood friends Justin Morehead and Zac Nicklas decided to team up. Justin and Zac had both previously worked in the pool industry for other companies and had existing pool industry experience.
They started The Pool Boys to bring better business to an industry with little standardization and minimal regulation. Their plan was to build a company that would truly take care of its customers. This idea has led them to building a great reputation with customers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
At the end of 2014 we did an internal audit of their operations and realized that the expenses being incurred from having such a far-reaching service area was causing the company to struggle. The decided outcome was to cut our service area in half. At the same time the decision to stop working for our biggest home warranty account was made. These changes resulted in an immediate drop in service calls, which was slowly built back up during 2015.
In the beginning of 2016 a decision was made to open a small retail storefront. Not long after, in July of 2016, The Pool Boys separated the store and made it into its own entity called Swimming Pool Warehouse, which is still growing each day.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Pool Boys – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
A swimming pool and backyard that is outdated or in need of repair can be frustrating. The Pool Boys create spaces for customers to enjoy spending quality time with family, friends, and relaxing, all within the comfort of their own backyard.
We offer swimming pool & backyard remodeling that comes with complete project management. There is currently a large disconnect between the general contractors, subcontractors, and customer. This often leaves the customer feeling dissatisfied. The Pool Boys will work with customers to create a backyard that has an excellent presentation of beauty, technology, and functionality.
In addition to remodeling, we provide a wide range of swimming pool equipment services including the repair, install, and upgrade of pool and spa equipment.
The Pool Boys are positively reviewed all over the internet and pride ourselves in the relationships we build with our customers. We are properly licensed, insured, and have numerous certifications in all parts of our industry.
Recently Zac received a Certificate of Entrepreneurship from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Moving forward The Pool Boys plan to grow their equipment and remodeling services by bringing on more team members as well as expanding their retail side, Swimming Pool Warehouse, into more local locations.
