Today we’d like to introduce you to Jzon Azari.
Hi Jzon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My career as a publicist didn’t start out in that field at all. I started as a production hand interning for shows such as “The Face” which featured Naomi Campbell, “Sisterhood of Hip-Hop” that featured faces such as Diamond (of Crime Mob) and BIA and “FAB Life” produced by Tyra Banks where I worked under the then unknown Chrissy Teigen as her food consultant on the ABC show. During that time I was doing favors while balancing odd jobs such as managing social media accounts for personalities in the entertainment industry. Those favors turned into referrals and after a while, I began to contract those individuals who inquired about my services and I began to put my connections I’ve amassed over a span of a decade to good use. Now I currently work with several successful individuals such as hit producers from multi-platinum and GRAMMY winning producer Dem Jointz, GRAMMY nominated singer-songwriter Kevin Ross and many other notable names in the entertainment industry.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing in this industry is smooth. I have dealt a hand and I molded it into the diamonds that many see today. Yes, I may have been dropped some amazing talents but I still had to figure out how to amplify their voices and getting to learn them on a friendship level I’ve adapted my knack for storytelling in the highest of art forms, publicity.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a publicist and unlike many in my field, I have a following of over one million supporters that continues to grow and help me live out my dreams as I help those of my clients become a reality. Whether it be that of curating verified playlists as an official tastemaker for Audiomack or being a Facebook and YouTube partner as a gamer rewinding my childhood playing retro video games, the sky’s the limit and I’m not placing myself in any box but jumping outside of the lines every chance that I get.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Unfortunately, I never found or received a mentor but I do try to lend advice to those that cross my path for I know how hard it can be starting out especially from scratch. For me, I scrubbed the internet for any piece of information to help me land placements whether it be researching other public relation firms or those similar to my clients so that I can land them on the outlets they dream of.
