Today we’d like to introduce you to Kai Lewis.
Kai had an early fascination with movement, mental focus and the connection of mind-body at an early age. Kai’s sports background began playing golf as a child, taught to him by his dad who was a Golf Pro, later playing in the Junior PGA and eventually teaching kids at golf camps. His first martial arts experience was introduced to him by his step-mom, a 3rd-degree black belt, who took him to a Goju-Ryu Karate class in Middle School. It sparked a lifelong interest and pursuit in the world or martial arts. He would later explore the Brazilian martial dance of Capoeira in high school, in college, Kai practiced San Shou and Shaolin Kung Fu at a traditional Chinese Martial Arts school. While exploring the physical side, Kai studied Visual Arts and Video Production to compliment the creative side. His recent martial arts journey has brought him to be a practitioner and teacher of the rare and dynamic martial arts of Pencak Silat and Kalis, balanced by the relaxed yet focused meditative arts of Taijiquan and Yoga.
Has it been a smooth road?
Hasn’t always been so smooth. Consistency with practice, balancing regular social, work and school life was a very challenging task. There are sacrifices to be made to achieve a higher quality of life that your peers aren’t really doing so it makes you stand out. Saving money to travel, train and recuperate vs going out to clubs, vacations or buying new shiny things. I have always had the support of my wife, mom, dad, brothers, sister, teachers and extended family.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
