Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Tran.
Hi Kaitlyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Activator: One who can make things happen by turning thoughts into actions. They want to do things now rather than simply talking about them. Being an activator as part of my character is why I probably have pushed myself so far into my photography passion as of today.
Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Tran, and I am an 18-year-old college student and a Houston photographer. Photography has been a massive part of my identity and lifestyle over the past seven years. I love meeting new friends through photography and creating timeless, creative visions. I picked up this underlying skill at the age of 12 when I bought my first camera, the EOS Rebel T5. I took pictures of every little corner I saw and created it to be eye-appealing.
I even created video edits on the side starting from 7th grade until freshman year of high school. I started to fall out of it and turned to photography professionally in my junior year of high school.
It took me more than three years to find my style, but I have been expanding and maturing my skill and vision after finalizing my brand. As a Vietnamese American daughter, there has always been a language barrier that disconnects my parents and me from communicating with one another. So coming home after a photo shoot, I’ve always been excited to show my parents what my creative mind can turn out visually, and it is a great conversation starter!
My goal is to capture, express, and empower the beauty of God’s creation in everything. I then exhibit my work online to advocate the beauty in others and overall art that people may have otherwise glanced at and misperceived in their daily lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running a small business has not always been the easiest, providing consistent creative service while maintaining a good customer experience. Although I have had tremendous character growth growing as an entrepreneur, there have been countless times where potential clients have turned me down, even if I invest in trying to connect with them. I am speaking for all my fellow photographers as well. Although this sets us back, it makes us work harder.
Even though it’s been a challenge, I have been balancing my time management with school and upholding my business. With what I have stated, photography will continue to be a huge part of my life and a career I would like to pursue full-time in the future. However, my parents have been against this future goal of mine, but this makes me strive harder to prove them wrong. I would like to manifest that careers are constantly changing and evolving in the modern aged society we live in. Therefore, I believe whatever I decide to do with photography, I am determined to make it a lifestyle that I can enjoy and find a good purpose.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a portrait photographer specializing in creative concept-styled shoots. Kind words others have told me is that my work is curated through a “timeless and unique” way that draws the eyes of many. Additionally, I strive to make my work an all-inclusive brand that empowers others to advocate for many. I would like to continue producing work and creating a vision that will be left unnoticed by the general public. I have already planned out various projects for summer 2021 and going back into videography and film. As I said, it is my goal to express my vision and advocate the beauty and art in others. This is what my motto will always and will be striving for.

I am always down to collaborate with aspiring and current creative artists who are down for a creative, fun shoot together! From being a photographer for 3 years, I am most blessed for the relationships and experiences I’ve created with others so far in my past works. It’s truly an amazing feeling when I am able to connect with different individuals that hold inspiring background stories and upbringings. They are the ones that tie my vision together with their unique characters.
