Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayra Gillis.
Hi Kayra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My amazing journey started off in a hot mail truck working for the post office. I have an eight-year-old son, Micah, who was tired of his mother not being home a lot. I would miss most of his football games, school events, pretty much everything! He sat me down one day and bluntly told me, “You need a better job. I need you home more.” I had just made my third year anniversary as a mail carrier in late October of 2021. After a short conversation with my postmaster expressing my need to be a mother, I was awarded a termination letter. I was told to work for 30 more days, to only be fired. On December 9th, 2021, I quit my job. To back up a little bit, In September of 2021, I partnered with Ms. Karmen Partner to start my own credit repair business. I had been doing well, helping clients work on their finances while still delivering mail. Right after quitting the post office, my credit repair business slowed down. I had no backup plan, hadn’t applied for any jobs then, and I felt hopeless. Karmen and I had already established a great friendship within those few months of meeting. She called me and asked, “Do you want to do taxes?”. My response was, “Where do I start?” with no hesitation! My trust in Karmen was so strong then, I didn’t even think about it. Once we started training with Complete Tax and Training Software, owned by the amazing Ms. Mashi Epting, I literally felt a weight lifting off of me. This company is so outstanding I’m still speechless at times talking about it! I took all of the training, everything Karmen taught me about marketing myself, and ran with it! By the end of tax season, I became a six-figure earner, helped over 230 clients get funded, and became the #1 preparer of Favored Financial Solutions, as well as the #3 Top Preparer of the whole Complete Tax and Training Software!! I have secured time back with Micah, opened up a physical office in Beaumont, and I am proud to say I am the owner of All Profit Tax Solutions with currently 10 employees I can help change lives for! At 27 years old, I am now an inspiration to many people all over the U.S. I plan to continue serving and educating people so they may also achieve happiness and financial freedom.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Becoming your own boss is NEVER easy! You literally change as a person completely. Your maturity, organization, patience, and overall mindset shifts. You have to be able to handle any situation professionally and accurately. Be ready for your family and friends to NOT support you or believe in you. I wouldn’t trade it for working a regular job any day though. This experience has been challenging, but amazing and well worth any obstacle I have faced. As I level up, I know obstacles will become more complicated, but I am ready for anything!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a woman of many professions. I specialize in financial literacy. Tax preparation, bookkeeping, and accounting are the top priorities. Tax preparation is my main profession and what I am currently known most for. My goal isn’t to just get you a max refund. I want to assist you in knowledge, make sure you understand your finances and where they need to be for you to reach your goals. My clients know I care, and it gives me the greatest joy knowing I can help people in a major way.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Sometimes, taking a risk can be the best thing to ever happen to you! You can never really lose taking a risk on yourself. My whole reason for success was because of me taking a risk. I quit my job without having another one to go to. I risked not having a steady income for 2 1/2 months, not knowing if I would get so far behind on my bills. Now, the risks I’m taking are those, such as trusting people in my business. I’m giving people an opportunity and I’m hoping they take advantage the correct way.
