Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelanie Watty.
Hi Kelanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I graduated from the University of Texas At Austin in 2012 and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Textiles & Apparel. I’ve always had a passion for fashion. I always knew no matter what I did in my future endeavors, the love for fashion would always be there.
The birth of Beat Gang Merch first rolled out in 2017, as a partnership. In 2020, Beat Gang Merch evolved into an official small business and Sole Proprietorship. As a Sole Proprietor, I am able to make decisions on my own terms. I solely decide which way my business flourishes. As of last year, in June 2020, Beat Gang Merch obtained its LLC. Beat Gang Merch, LLC has grown tremendously with a great following and support. We have gone from creating custom t-shirts for any occasion or business to having an e-commerce store. Along with custom t-shirts, we now offer other merchandise such as: hats, jewelry, trendy sunglasses, and accessories. I am most proud of the fact that my business has expanded since the start of the pandemic. I have received orders from new followers and have met and made new friends along the way.
I know Beat Gang Merch, LLC will continue to grow, as we continue to incorporate new products.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When beginning a business, I feel like the road can be a little bumpy for most. I would say somethings that were a struggle at first, was getting my business out there to the community and gaining followers and customers. Patience definitely goes a long way. Working diligently on your business and knowing things aren’t going to happen overnight.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My full-time profession is being a Flight Attendant for a major U.S. Carrier. My job is pretty flexible and allows me to focus on my small business. I’m so glad that I’m able to manage both and keep my customers satisfied with quick turnaround times on fulfilling their orders.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
PATIENCE!! Lol. There will be leg work that needs to be done. Whatever you put in, is what you get out.
