Meet Kesha Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kesha Carter.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kesha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was adopted out of Dallas, TX and grew up heavy in theatre and the performing arts. I began my comedy career through social media by an absolute accident. Or as I like to see it as Devine appointment. While at work on a layover, I got the crazy idea to buy a random blue wig and scarf to resemble a flight attendant character and I turned on my iPad to record the randomness is coming from my heart about the job I love so much. From that moment, Swanesha was born! She hit the internet and immediately went viral and reaches the hearts of many with relatable comedy on and off the airplane.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Diagnosed with juvenile type 1 diabetes at the age of ten years old was for sure the hardest transition in my life to date. Now, currently going into year 19 with the disease that takes numerous lives daily, I’ve used it to help me conquer life and live to the fullest—constantly reminding myself that if I can live with diabetes, then anything else that comes my way is to be handled with grace, poise, and confidence. Another struggle in life came with learning that when you go for any job or role, go at it as if auditioning for a part you really want and present the best you have. Never half step and never cut corners. When I realized that I had the skills to write, direct, and produce, I started giving it my all. From my podcast to my comedy skits, and along to future projects, I know that by me putting forth the effort and skill and learning along the way, God is going to align my destiny and purpose at the right time.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an actress, comedian, singer, writer, producer and much more. I specialize in not only making people laugh but making people feel. Whether it be feeling heavy emotion through my writing or the hardest laugh in their belly from my jokes. I’m known for making that connection with my audience that lasts a lifetime and changes hearts all around the world. I’m most proud of my self-proficiency and if anything sets me apart from others, it’s my passion and drive. Being a kid that was born into the system and expected to fail, I don’t let the hand I’ve been dealt dictate my outcome. It takes a lot more than people think to be your own entire production team and be in front of the camera! Nevertheless, in the world of production, the show must always go on!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Firstly, all glory and honor to God. Second, both my biological mother (Ora Rwals) and my adoptive parents (Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Cherilyn Carter). It takes a special type of people to do what they have all done for me and I can never thank them enough. Next, big thanks and much love to my family, friends, and fans. Special mention to my 4th-grade teacher, Mrs. Melanie Harvey, for giving my wild imagination a push start as a writer and truly taught me how to start putting the words in order with the crazy stories and movies that play in my head at a very young age. As well as, my fairy-godmother Sheran Goodspeed-Keyton, for ALWAYS giving fuel and fire to my passion on and off the stage.
