Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Solomon.
Kevin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began SlaughtaHouze in early 2000 as an independent recording label releasing mixtapes on which I arranged, DJ and freestyle on. Our chopped and screwed mixtapes host plenty of up and coming artists in neighborhoods all over Houston. In 2007, I stepped away from the indie label to tend to my family and grow as an individual. In 2015, I restructured SlaughtaHouze into an online radio station catering to independent artists.
With the success of my radio show, SlaughtaHouze Live (on various networks) the market was introduced to the restructured brand and widely accepted. As the years progressed, so did the business which leads to the formation of SlaughtaHouze/Newmann Distributions. Our subsidiaries include The Award Winning SlaughtaHouze Radio and Slab Allstarz Radio which rakes in tens of thousands of monthly viewers. Being that, I have done damn near everything that could possibly be done in this H-Town music game (without the fame) I have embarked on a new journey… the world of acting.
I always challenge myself to be better and do better. Some people were made to be center stage, others belong backstage (running the show).
I’m often asked where does the name Newmann comes from in SlaughtaHouze/Newmann Distributions. My stage name is Vic New short for Victor Newman as in the old school Young and The Restless character. Being that I couldn’t use that name legally I shorten it to Vic New. I never achieved the status I wanted as a rapper/performer but in some form or fashion the name was gonna reach on a global scale. So Newmann is an ode to a dream I once had.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, no road is completely smooth. I’ve encountered plenty of “you can’t do this” “you can’t do that” “you weak” “this sucks” I’ve heard it all. I would be lying if I said I ignored what my peers, family members, and haters said to me. It USED to affect me but now it’s FUEL. Failure isn’t an option.

I would like to have Newmann Distributions become the NEXT Radio One. With more stations and shows in the works, we plan on becoming the next big name in broadcasting. As for me, I would like to have plenty of acting credits under my belt to hopefully landing in a feature film.
