Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Washington.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a child, I was always interested in arts and crafts and as I got older I always enjoyed planning things such as my birthday events and family events. After graduating college I would always talk to my mother about decorating and event planning and she encouraged me “Kierra if that is your passion Go for it”.
One day I was asked by a friend to help decorate for a mutual friend’s baby shower. Of course, I said yes and the mother to be was very pleased with my work! A while after another friend asked me to help plan her baby shower and it was a success! I began to receive decorating inquiries from all over just by word of mouth! As the inquiries started to grow I decided it was time to create a name and social media site. And that’s how Kreative Decor began.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At the beginning, it was a little tough trying to figure out where to begin, how to run a business and how to divide my time between my full-time job and a part-time job as a Respiratory Therapist and decorating. I can say I have lost a lot of sleep and still do but it all has been worth it! I love what I do!

Kreative Decor specializes in decorating for events such as baby showers, bridal showers, graduations, birthday parties, reunions, receptions, treats and party favors. Kreative Decor is known for our passion and creativity.
I am most proud of the growth of the company over the past year and a half and very thankful to everyone that has supported me in this journey. What sets us apart from others is most of our decor is handmade.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I feel Houston and surrounding areas is a great place to start! I would definitely recommend someone to start here where there is ample opportunities.
