Today we’d like to introduce you to Kisha “Coach K” Simmons.
Kisha “Coach K”, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m from the town labeled as the “Land of the Trill” by the popular rap group UGK. Being raised in Port Arthur, TX didn’t always afford me great opportunities but what I did learn was how to be resilient, how to dream big and how to never allow my lack to disrupt my legacy.
Being a suicidal teen that experienced a traumatic childhood filled with drugs, abuse and neglect, I became an adult determined to not become what I saw but to be the change I wished to see.
My experiences afforded me the opportunity to reach back and teach teens who struggle with suicide, depression, identity and so much more. 2014 was the pivotal moment in my adulthood when I realized, I’ve been dedicating much of my time to teach teens how to overcome adversity. This is the year I decided to become a Certified Teen Life Coach, Mental Wellness Consultant and Nonprofit Founder. I began hosting enrichment courses throughout the community and within schools. I’ve also become known as a sought after speaker, and multi-published author.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Becoming the founder of KICK Consulting which is A Life Coach & Mental Wellness Consultancy Firm, along with becoming the founder of Teen KICK a nonprofit dedicated to girls ages 12-18 has brought many challenges. Although operating in my gift of creating mental health programs, book content and workshops have been smooth, I’ve faced many struggles. One of the biggest struggles I’ve encountered has been getting school districts to recognize the need BEFORE disaster of a teen who commits suicide, a school shooting, excessive bullying or increase in delinquency strikes. Not all school districts operate in this manner, but for those that do, it has been frustrating as most don’t see that the only ones suffering are the teens.

KICK Consulting is a Life Coach & Mental Wellness Consultancy Firm that offers teen girls the tools for effective teen stress management and healthy mental wellness. Through our coaching programs & mental wellness consulting, teen girls increase confidence while decreasing depression. They confidently overcome the challenges of adolescence and walk boldly in becoming change agents, academic scholars, innovators and leaders of tomorrow.
KICK Consulting also offers mental health programs for schools over eight weeks and also offer empowering administrative tools for educators as well. We specialize in adolescent mental health education.
What sets KICK Consulting apart from others is that our focus is not only to educate teens on mental wellness but also those who serve them such as administrators, parents and professionals.
I am most proud of the unique programs offered through KICK Consulting, as we’ve impacted thousand of adolescents that has statistically changed the trajectory of their life. With several school district partnerships throughout Texas, KICK Consulting is being sought after nationally.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is defined through Aleria, Jai’Lee, Saniya, BraNiya, Annalise, Sierra, Kamryn, Ryal, Beaja, Kaitlyn, Sanara, JahZara, Jakahyla, Trenola, Hailie, Mercedes, Pilaur, Tierra, Kennedy, Layla, Keyona, Valerie, Rocky, Jakaila, Nia, Jasaunae, Destini, Na’Lani, Aileena, Alani and so many more teens that my legacy will live through.
When I see teen girls that have been counseled, mentored, or encouraged by me either through KICK Consulting or my nonprofit Teen KICK, I see my work as successful. All that I do means absolutely nothing if no lives are impacted positively.
