Meet Dr. Krupa Patel of Southern Charm Dental in Richmond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Krupa Patel.

Dr. Patel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in the Midwest. I went to school for my undergrad at Creighton University and then went on to Creighton Dental School where I earned my DDS.

I am a first-generation American and the first in my family to earn a college degree. My family is the most important thing in the world to me because they are the reason I am who I am today. It was not only my dream to become a Dentist, but my family’s dream as well.

Before opening Southern Charm Dental, I worked for both corporate and private practices which taught me a lot. I was able to open a family dental clinic which is yet the biggest achievement and I hope that I can make one of the best in the area with giving my patients all the treatment they need in a safe and comfortable environment. My main goal is preventative dentistry where I can educate people enough to make sure they don’t get any cavities and have good oral hygiene.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, baking, traveling, and watching movies.

I have volunteered in many free dental clinics as well as Give kids a smile. Helping people that need it the most is where I get happiness.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
On my path of becoming a dentist to opening my own clinic, it was never a smooth road. I had many distant family members and friends tell me and my family I won’t be able to achieve a good career because I am a female and am not strong enough to become a dentist or that I will be too old by the time I graduate and will be past my age of getting married. I was able to prove them all wrong and was able to make my parents proud and that is my true success.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Southern Charm Dental – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Southern Charm Dental is a very new family to me and we are slowly making our dental family grow. I do almost all parts of dentistry. We see all ages. I offer Invisalign (invisible braces), I extract teeth, do root canals, cosmetic dentistry and crowns and bridges as well. We are very tech savvy office and have the latest up to date technology. WE offer all forms of comfort from pillows and blankets to TV on the wall and ceiling.

We do oral sedation as well for any patient who is very nervous. We are paperless and have I-pads to fill out forms and sign consents. We try to make each visit as memorable and pleasant as possible. We are very proud that the most any patient has every waited is about 10 minutes. Our clinic is open till 7 pm for convenience so our patients don’t always have to take off work and we are open on Saturdays as well. What sets us apart is that every single person that works here loves what they do and our patients love to see us as much as we like to see them.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans are to grown and be able to provide our patients all treatment in-house and never have to send them anywhere else because we know it’s a hassle to go from one clinic to another with referrals. We want to be able to open more locations so we can do what we do best for more people.
