Meet Krystal Lewis of Sweet Kravings & Liquid Gold Treasure Chest in North Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Lewis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a young girl, I was always in the kitchen baking with both of my grandmothers! I continued the tradition of baking goodies for holidays that my grandmothers started and somehow I was designated the pie lady for all family events! My family encouraged me to start selling my goodies and the story is history! I now have a business that caters to all types of sweets such as birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, etc as well as your everyday gathering. I make amazing tasting German Chocolate Cake, moist chocolate chip pecan cookies and delicious banana pudding! My second business called Liquid Gold Treasure Chest was created because and am a new mommy and we are breastfeeding. I had trouble in the beginning as the majority of new moms do so I decided to bake lactation cookies and goodies that help produce breast milk! I just wanted to help moms and encourage breastfeeding because it’s the tree of life!

Has it been a smooth road?
Startup was definitely difficult for both business and it’s easy to get discouraged but I remember the saying “Rome wasn’t built in a day” I also have encouraging friends and strong faith!

Sweet Kravings is my baby! I specialize in all important life events! I make cakes for: birthdays, weddings, baby showers. I make cakes, candy apples, Rice Krispie treats, oreo truffles, cheesecake, banana pudding, German Chocolate cake and more! I’m most proud of the diversity of my clients they come from all walks of life lol! I pride myself on using fresh ingredients as well as creating moist cakes and cookies and savory cheesecakes!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love the city of Houston! It’s the perfect melting pot for a small business. There’s many of us but that allows for individuals to try different types of business and it allows for fair pricing!

For someone beginning in Houston, I would say don’t be afraid to step out and meet people. Meet people and engage in conversation, the entrepreneurial life in Houston is amazing!
