Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Darden-Taylor.
Latisha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Latisha Darden-Taylor and outside of my full-time job at the Cancer Center, where we have been working consistently helping others during this COVID Pandemic! I am a wife to an outstanding husband of five years who supports me in every step I take and a mother of two awesome children who are my entire world. I am the PROUD owner of CLASSY FASHION COSMETICS, which is an online store where we offer all-natural inner and outer beauty products! Here is a little more detailed background information on myself.
I am a product of two wonderful parents Pastor Kenneth Darden and Lady Janice Darden who have been married for 38 years. I also have a younger adult brother whom I truly adore. We have always lived in the Kingwood/Humble area during my childhood so that my brother and I could attend school in the city but I was primarily raised in a small town by the name of Livingston, Texas. This is where the majority of my youth took place with a southern baptist upbringing in my hometown church by the name of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where my father has Pastored for almost 40 years with my mother right by his side. My father has always been an entrepreneur ever since I can remember from being an independent insurance consultant to currently having a daycare as well as a non-profit program by the name of Abundant Light of Livingston Inc. offering healthcare certification classes. Growing up, I always chose my own path even if I took the long route I never gave up on any of my main goals.
I graduated from Nimitz High School in Houston, Texas but shortly after, I encountered a few roadblocks on my career path because I became a teenage mom at 18 and six years later, I also gave birth to my son. I still continued focusing on my goals, never letting being a single mother stop me. I began to work in the healthcare administration field because I have always had a passion to help others with resources that will assist them in being better and staying on a positive and healthy path. I continued my education and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration in 2017 and I am currently obtaining my Master’s Degree in Social work which I will have completed by February 2021. I have worked in the healthcare field for over 18 years now & throughout this process, I never gave up on my dreams of entrepreneurship.
Due to my spirituality, I never rush things but instead, I pray & prepare over all things while maintaining my faith, I always trust God as he allows things to fall right into place in my life. This is exactly what he has done and also continues to do daily with my business. After a few years of hesitation, I finally began creating my business. I have always admired the strength of so many of the educated women throughout my family, starting with my mother, who has always nurtured & loved me not just with her words but by being such a Classy example. She has always told me that beauty is not only what you see on the outside but it starts from within. These are words she lived by & no matter how busy my mother was with her everyday life, she never seemed to compromise her INNER or OUTER beauty and now I live by these exact words on a daily basis. All of the characteristics that I have learned throughout my upbringing are what helped me create my business name. I have always loved and cherished my favorite self-care moments that are beauty related which are my visits to the hair salon & on special occasions having my makeup professionally done. Due to my busy schedule, I do not always have time to put on a full face of makeup but I definitely cannot completely neglect my outer beauty so I have always worn a cute lipstick or lipgloss, which is one of the main reasons I started my cosmetic line.
Here is a little more detailed information on what my beauty line consists of and means to me. My daughter and I have always had very sensitive skin which is the number one reason we offer all-natural inner and outer beauty products. I started my business in July of 2018 but I rebranded into a full cosmetic line in December of 2019. We as women often carry the weight of the world upon us due to so many different reasons but my main goal & business motto for women is to “NEVER COMPROMISE YOUR BEAUTY!”
This is something I want to help women all over the world to truly understand that no matter how busy life can be, self-care is the best care! Here at Classy Fashion Cosmetics online store, we are always waiting for a click from our next beauty chic!💋📲🛍
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is not always easy but nothing worth having ever is. I feel that some aspects of marketing and gaining a steady and stable customer base has been my main struggles but I am still growing so I just lean towards my spirituality, all while remaining persistent and focused on my brand. Even though I learn something new daily about entrepreneurship some tasks are much harder than others but I continue to stay positive because I always focus on the time & dedication that I have put into my business. It also helps to have a very strong support system who believes in your brand because their encouragement really gets me through some of my most difficult days so for that, I am beyond grateful.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Classy Fashion Cosmetics – what should we know?
I offer a signature collection of cruelty free and vegan all-natural LIP wear with a variety of colors that are perfect for all skin tones. As I begin to add to my beauty line, the healthcare profession in me would not allow me to forget about the importance of one’s inner beauty, which is where my holistic health & wellness products come in handy. I have always loved the skin that I am in and this is something I have also taught my daughter. My friends and I have conversations often on the importance of skincare so for me having a cosmetic beauty line requires skincare products that will not compromise your skin in any way. This is why I offer an all-natural nighttime skincare regimen as well, which consists of body butter and body oil that smooths and moisturizes the skin and leaves it feeling better than ever before. I also know throughout this pandemic life can be very stressful so our all-natural lavender bath salts can be used during your day or night relaxation time.
What makes my brand stand out would be due to my passion for healthcare, my LIP wear product packaging which comes in a cute prescription bottle that definitely catches your attention but the main reason why I chose this look is because I feel it offers a pathway for individuals to fulfill a portion of their outer beauty. This then brings about our cute but unforgettable slogan “Have you filled your LIP script today? I am proud to have a platform that allows me to empower women through different forms of beauty! What I feel sets my brand apart from others is that by offering both INNER & OUTER beauty products it will remind women to follow our motto which is NEVER COMPROMISE YOUR BEAUTY!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Due to my spirituality, I live by two main scriptures as it pertains to my success and that is:
Romans 8:28
“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose!”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
“In all things, give thanks!”
These two scriptures remind me to always stay humble no matter what level of success I may reach.
