Meet Latoya Thompson of She’s A Ladii in North West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latoya Thompson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Latoya. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a native Texan, born and raised in the Killeen/Fort Hood area. After residing in Houston, I have encountered a whole new world. I’ve always been what is known as the “girly girl” and have had a closet full of clothes and shoes since I can remember. I am that one most would say is “extra,” but I just love to be unapologetically me with bold confidence. I wouldn’t trade it for a thing! She’s A Ladii is a mixture of my personality, my style and my demeanor as a Lady. “How did it all start?” you may ask.

On August 10, 2019, my Dad transitioned after fighting Lung Cancer. Before his passing, we had a conversation about me starting my own business but at the time, I didn’t know what. I had many ideas but no direction. On the night of September 23, the name “She’s A Ladii” drops in my spirit. Immediately I knew what it was. A boutique but not just any boutique. A boutique that would honor my Dad. By December 11, 2019, I took a leap of faith and pursed everything God wanted me to do regarding the task he set before me. This may be the biggest journey I’ve ever taken but with God as my Lead, everything is tangible! Opening a boutique is more than sharing my passion to feel empowered in what I wear but to influence others to first see how God sees themselves and change the trajectory of their lives that gives God glory. Ladii’s remember, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and you are God’s Masterpiece.”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, it has been smooth with a few bumps along the way so far. When starting off the information, I needed to start my journey came verily quickly. Almost knocking me over in a sense of confirmation. As I moved towards initial my launch date, I knew deep down there was something missing. I thought of actions to take but the unfortunate happenstance of the COVID-19 pandemic arose, causing me to change my open date. In hindsight, I find it to be a blessing! I have grown and learned more that I should have learned prior to what I now call my “Pre Launch.” Not only has God opened my eyes to what was missing but I have also grown more passionate about what God has given me. Being that I quit my job to start, She’s A Ladii. Financially the Lord has made a way for me to not only purchase inventory but start my business effectively.

One thing I can say for certain is knowing the one who gives you the vision makes the obstacles and challenges less painful. Also, surrounding yourself with people who are willing to push you into everything God created you to be.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with She’s A Ladii – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
She’s A Ladii is an online boutique that strives to impact lives through a style that captivates confidence, modesty and elegance. We strive to remind women of all ages that you are wonderfully made by God. Our goal is to empower women to love themselves, walk in the authority given to them, uphold discipline, influence others and impact the world as a Lady. It’s not just what a lady wear’s but how she “wears” it.

She’s A Ladii has pledged to donate a percentage of all proceeds to the American Cancer Society in my Dad’s honor. Cancer is never one’s choice. It simply breaks in raging like a roaring lion. In 2017, my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. He beat lung cancer strong in 2018. Unfortunately, he fought courageously against the remission of cancer until Aug 10, 2019, he transitioned as an angel, losing the battle against cancer. I will never forget the fight he had and the faith he kept! As his legacy carries on, so shall the fight to cure this unforgiving disease. Through everything, we desire to bring God’s name, Glory! This is more of a ministry than a business.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
She’s A Ladii has major plans for the future. As we continue to move forward and grow, events such as Ladii retreats, Popup shops, or conferences may spring up. We just want to follow God’s lead.
