Meet Laura Miranda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Miranda.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Pictures have always been a big part of my life. My father would capture anything and everything on disposable cameras, and looking at the prints would bring me so much joy. Growing up, my goal was to create something as beautiful and genuine as those photos of my childhood. It didn’t necessarily have to be beautiful, but the thought of creating art on my own was beautiful to me. I first started taking photos on a small digital camera in 7th grade. I would take photos of anyone that I encountered, any landscape, or anything that I thought could be beautifully captured on that $100 digital camera. After high school, I purchased my very first iPhone that quickly became my go-to camera. I learned so many useful things while shooting with my phone, and I was able to appreciate art in many forms. The photos that I created on my phone eventually opened up opportunities to photograph different churches, wedding rehearsals, anniversaries, engagements, etc. with better cameras and equipment. Today, you can see me carrying around a film camera – creating and photographing anything that brings me joy.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I feel like everyone struggles with something, and throughout my career in photography, I struggled a lot with comparing my work to others. I still do struggle with that, but I’m learning to appreciate the way I see things through my camera lens.

Laura Miranda Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in portraits, landscape photography, and anything that can challenge me as I creative. Amazing photographers know how to execute emotions well in their work, whether it is joy, excitement, hope, or even anger. Although I am far from being seen as an amazing photography, the photos that I take will make you feel something emotionally, and that is something that I am extremely proud of.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If you look at the photos you have created and are in absolute awe of them, that is success. I usually shoot photos for fun, so if I am able to look at photos that I have taken and love every detail about them, that is success in my book.
