Meet Lauren and Alex Frazier of MistyInkCo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren and Alex Frazier.

Lauren and Alex, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
LAUREN: Through childhood, I was the child whose mom had her drawing pictures on canvases and working with pastel colors at a very early age. I later went on to create newsletters, greeting cards, handbooks and so much more through high school. In college, I minored in Public Relations and Corporate Communications, having a focus in graphic design for some time. That’s where I got my feet wet. At the time, I just thought, maybe it will be useful one day. Never really intended to use it again. During the earlier stages of my professional career, I got my start in marketing. and overtime ended up being responsible for marketing operations in quite a few locations.

ALEX & LAUREN: The pivotal moment that changed the trajectory for us intentionally trying to pursue this as a business is that as a married couple, we had aggressive goals and needed something to help jump-start progress. We always intended to start a company, the timeline was just moved up drastically and this was something we knew we could get going. Together, we came up with a system and tested it out. We were really taken back by the response it received within our local community because there was such a need for it. Just naturally, we started out working with startups and really small businesses, including black-owned businesses. The personal goal for both of us was to find that sweet spot where creativity, effectiveness, and affordability collide to allow these businesses to be properly situated for growth, exuding professionalism. And a bigger brand persona. In the earliest days, it was our community who supported our vision and embraced what we set out to accomplish and had to offer. The community seemed to realize early on that we were truly working for them. For that, we are forever grateful and realize we wouldn’t be where we are without them. LAUREN: As for individuals, as the designer of the business I am a complete paper, crafting, and ink fanatic! This is why I still love designing custom cards and invitations.

Has it been a smooth road?
As with any new venture, the road has not been smooth but has been rewarding in multiple ways. Some of the biggest challenges are honestly par for the course for any start-up but especially those that don’t really have a reference point for you to be familiar with and follow. What we’re doing is typically done on an extremely large scale. We had to figure out a way to take our company vision and mission and balance it with being affordable and profitable, all while delivering a quality service and product.

Like many other businesses, we were negatively impacted by COVID. However, we are maintaining and taking precautions to stay afloat.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
At present, our company is a graphic design, printing/production and consulting firm. We are most known for our specialized and professional custom designs, ranging from business cards and backdrops to large format programs and invitations and consulting support services related to our product offerings. We are there for our clients from beginning to end, starting with an idea and translating that into a tangible form. We help shape the idea and bring it to life in the best format possible for our clients. These items are created to connect people, and our customer service and insight is by far, what sets us apart. Additionally, we are able to meet our client’s needs and get what they need in their hands when they need it.
