Leah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Prior to my becoming an esthetician, I was an apartment manager for 20 years. I achieved every goal I set for myself and at 41, decided it was time to try something new. I went back to school to become a licensed esthetician. I also became certified in laser hair removal, micro needling, Microblading, and eyelash extensions.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting life over at 41 in a new industry definitely hasn’t been easy! The beauty industry is all about growing your clientele. I’m new to the woodlands area and to my current salon. I’m relying heavily on social media and word of mouth, but it’s definitely taking a lot of patience growing my client base.
Please tell us about Salon Beaux Cheveux.
I love working at Salon Beaux Cheveux. The salon is so beautiful and is also an art gallery! I’ve always been the artistic type and being surrounded by gorgeous works of art every day pleases me.
When I decided to become an esthetician, I knew I wanted to encompass all aspects of the job and I love learning and growing myself. Not only am I an esthetician, but I can do micro needling, Microblading, dermaplaning, eyelash extensions, lash lifts and tints.
At the end of April, I will be traveling to Las Vegas to learn a new procedure I’m super excited about! It’s called Plasma Fibroblast and it treats sagging skin like hooded eyes and necks with no surgery and little downtime. This procedure is a game changer for clients who want to look younger but don’t want surgery.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t believe I would want to start over however I wish I would have known how difficult it is to get steady clients!
