Meet Lindsey Nguyen of Bare Beauty Spatique in Galleria Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Nguyen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lindsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At a very young age, I was so fascinated with the creative nature of the beauty industry. To be able to enhance the natural beauty or mesomorph into an entirely different person by wielding a wand was utterly amazing. However, as with any typical Asian family, my parents wanted me to focus more academically than in arts.

So my path then was heavily focused on becoming an engineer. As an outlet for my creativity, I started experimenting with makeup, hair and nails on myself. Finally convincing my mom, it started as a hobby that made extra money, but life took a turn and I became a young mom at 19. This was when it turned into a full pledge career. Being so passionate for what I do, the question was not, if I should, but when I will open my own.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not smooth at all. There aren’t any templates to follow when you’re creating something outside the box. Everything I did is from scratch. Defined on paper as a minority and being a woman is a minority in itself, gave me experiences of the business world that I would never wish upon anyone. From obtaining the finances to securing a location and the process of the construction, people did not take me seriously. Society wants to put each individual in a box and label it to their standards. And I for one hate labels.

Bare Beauty Spatique – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are all unique in our own way and I wanted to create a place where services are personally catered to the individual’s needs. Because I love all aspect of the beauty world, I made it a point to be well verse in all areas of the arena. This enables me to understand clients’ needs and in turn my needs too for my physical self. Before offering any services or products, I am a test subject to ensure it is safe and effective. I’m not a salesperson. I can not sell something I do not believe in. I only know best at sharing my own experiences and skills to help others.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is knowing that in everything I do, I’ve exerted 100% of myself. It does not matter if there are setbacks or not. Even in the setbacks, giving my all is a success. Because the wealth of knowledge I attain from the lessons are priceless.
