Meet Logan Lester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Lester.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At 15 years old, I decided to enter my first pageant, Miss Texas Teen USA 2011. I was a tomboy up to this time in my life and never imagined myself competing. During this stage of my life, I was experiencing some bullying and low self-esteem. I needed something positive to work towards so I turned to pageants. Making it into the top 15 that year, I was immediately hooked. I loved my experience and from that moment on the dream of becoming Miss Texas USA would be placed in my heart. Little did I know it would take 8 years of hard work, some road bumps, and a hurricane to get me there, but ultimately I am proud to say my grit paid off.

Fast forward to my senior year of high school. My parents had to sell their home. I was immediately drawn to the process and was curious to learn more. My parents hired TEAM SANSONE to sell our home, and I was amazed. Lizz and Chris picked up on my curiosity and after my freshman year at Texas A&M University. They invited me to be an intern the following summer. I got the first-hand experience with the buying/selling of real estate. After that experience, I knew what I wanted my career to be and kept working for them while I finished my business degree at TAMU in College Station.

After graduating college in May of 2016. I sat for my real estate exam 2 weeks later and officially became licensed. 3 months later, with Lizz and Chris as my mentors, I was able to close on my first home. It also happened to be a million dollar transaction! Although I love representing luxury home buyers. I also pride myself on providing excellent service to all of my clients. I work with all types of buyers, from first time home buyers and everything in between. My true passion is providing excellent service to all my clients, just like Lizz and Chris did for my family.

Now, during all of this, I was also still competing in the Miss Texas USA pageant system. I competed four times until I won Miss Texas USA. I went through many life-changing moments during these years. It was actually this time last year when I was debating whether I was going to try one more time for Miss Texas USA. I was getting discouraged and was having a lot of self-doubts. I was juggling whether the dream of becoming the next Miss Texas USA was even in the cards for me. After some serious reflection and encouragement from my family, friends and Team Sansone. I decided to try one more time.

As I was gearing up for the pageant, I was SO determined and excited. Then just days before the competition expected to be during Labor day weekend 2017. Hurricane Harvey made its appearance. Clearly, the pageant was canceled and set to be rescheduled. That was an experience I think all Houstonians will never forget. The rain came in heavy and I sat in my living room watching the community I love fall apart. My home was up high and safe from the water, so I got off the couch and started volunteering immediately.

After a couple of days of volunteering at GRB & Lakewood. I started to get turned away because there were so many volunteers. This filled up heart up with so much pride for my city and state. Seeing people help people were so beautiful and inspiring. So as the city was slowly recovering, I realized that my particular set of skills could really help people during this time. I immediately started helping families find temporary housing and FEMA information. My real estate skill set was put to good use during this time and I am so thankful for that.

Four months later, I gave it one last shot at Miss Texas USA. After this, I was planning on retiring my heels and focusing 100% on my career. To my humble surprise, I WON. I have spent the last 6 months as the reigning Miss Texas USA and it has been one of the incredible experiences of my life. It has been challenging balancing my career in real estate and my new position as a titleholder, but with the help of my TEAM, I have made it possible. I recently just had the opportunity to compete at Miss USA, representing our great state of Texas and the Houston community. I was fortunate enough to place in the top 15! It was such an honor.

Now I am officially back to work and busy helping my clients find the perfect place to call home. I am proud to represent women in my industry. Many people put pageant girls in a “stereotype”. I am proud to be a woman who hopefully can break that mold. I think pageant women are relevant now more than ever. I am proud to be a career focused woman who can balance clients, serve her community, and stand on stage in a bikini and evening gown with confidence and respect for myself/others.

Has it been a smooth road?
“The answer is always no unless you ask or you try”. This message is something my dad consistently spoke over me. Throughout my life, I have been rejected so many time; the varsity track team, college of business at Texas A&M, my career, and even 3 times as Miss Texas USA. His advice always resonated with me and pushed me to keep trying and overcoming obstacles until I accomplished my goals. The most memorable was last summer when I almost chose not to compete for Miss Texas USA. This would be my 4th attempt and I was giving up hope. I heard my father’s voice and decided I would try again. I think this is a very important lesson for people to learn. Never give up on yourself and keep asking or trying until the answer is YES. Self-motivation and determination passed down from my dad has served me well. Persistence continues to motivate me to keep setting big goals for myself.

The most recent roadblock I experienced was while I was competing at MISS USA. 3 days before the LIVE telecast of MISS USA 2018 on Fox Network, I fell off the stage. During rehearsals, I had my very own Miss Congeniality moment. I fell off the top of the stairs on the stage face first onto the hockey ice rink floor of the Hirsch Colosseum in Shreveport, LA (Location for MISS USA). I totally blacked out and do not remember what happened or how, but I did get right back up and kept rehearsing. I busted my knee, face, head and pride. Despite my bloody face, I did not want ANYONE to know how badly I was in pain or how devastated I was.

I knew I had a choice to make and this would forever be one of the defining moments in my life. Was I going to let this fall keep me from living out one of my wildest dreams? NO WAY. I held back every tear and held my head high with a beat up chin (Thank gosh for makeup). The biggest takeaway I have learned from this setback was that I truly was a persistent woman. Fall down 7 times, stand up 8. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can always control how we react. With every might of courage and strength I had, I competed at Miss USA & made it into the top 15. Thankfully my injuries can heal and I can live with gratefulness in my heart that I NEVER GAVE UP ON MYSELF.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the REALTOR story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a Realtor with RE/MAX Fine Properties in Houston, TX. I get to help people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives, purchasing a home. My specialty is helping buyers and educating my clients on the home buying and selling process. I think most people can relate to my career because, at the end of the day, we all want to have a roof over our heads. Home ownership is one of the American dreams, and I am passionate about helping people fulfill that goal.

What sets me apart is my age and my work ethic. I may be young because I graduated HS early and college at 21, BUT I can promise you I work harder than anyone else my age. I bring a lot to the table because I am hungry to be the best in my field. I am constantly educating myself and working 24/7 to help give my clients the best service possible. Let’s just say my priorities are a lot different than most people my age!

My proudest personal accomplishment so far was being recognized as the youngest person to make the HAR (Houston Association of Realtors) 20 under 40 for the list at age 22. I was also the youngest person in my office to sell a million- dollar home at age 21. However, I am most proud of my work ethic, which is to help ALL people find a home. Whether it’s a mobile home or million dollar home, I will provide all my clients with the same attention and SERVICE no matter what.
