Meet Lydia Pierre of The Corporate Socialite®

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Pierre. Them and their team share their story with us below:

A natural entrepreneur since her childhood, Lydia started her career early. A cosmetologist by trade, Lydia started building her reputation as a brand manager in 2011 and went by the title of Ur Beauty Liaison. In that capacity, Lydia worked as a Media Personality and interviewed celebrity guests such as Actress LisaRaye McCoy, Singer Lyfe Jennings, Singer Sheila Raye Charles and daughter of Ray Charles, the legendary Huff & Gamble, among others. She has had the pleasure of working in affiliation with individuals such as NFL’s Michael Vick; Celebrity Stylist, Dwight Eubanks; and Reality star, Erica Dixon to name a few. She later expanded the business and rebranded as Pierre Branding Group with Ur Beauty Liaison becoming one of the many industries they serve.

Lydia has worn many hats along her journey and hasn’t exactly slowed down. Her titles include: Founder and CEO of Pierre Branding Group (PBG), Author, Brand Manager, Speaker, Podcast Host, Model, Media Personality, Mentor, Elite-level Lifestyle Coach. Positioning her to work confidently with clients in a variety of spaces and places, as well as equipping her with a unique set of skills and understanding that you may not get from a typical coach. Lydia is not complex, nor is she “all over the place”…she is Simply Sophisticated.

“When I started to brand myself as The Corporate Socialite® 4 or so years ago, I was clear that my purpose was to work at the highest level with high-profile professionals and extraordinary experts who are brilliant at what they do but are not able to experience the benefits of their own greatness because they have become so focused on “the grind”, that they‘ve lost sight of themselves. I wanted to work with just a select few – and work deeply with them to help develop their professional and social networks in such a way that they not only begin attracting their highest-end deals and clients and, therefore wealth and impact, but are able to do so all while living an extraordinary life. I have the distinct pleasure of being by your side as your partner, lifestyle coach, Plus One, and your Fun & Fabulous friend – in your business, social life and legacy….making an impact. ” – Lydia Pierre, The Corporate Socialite®

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“In 2009, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. In an effort to expand my team and make time to be my mother’s primary caretaker, I founded Blessed Occasions Traveling Salon & Spa in 2010 which was a call back to how I got started in the hair business traveling to clients’ homes. But this time, with a luxurious appeal.

Due to owner’s dependency issues, I found myself “packaging” the individual team member’s talents and skills in a way that made my very loyal clientele, feel comfortable with being serviced by new providers. I didn’t realize is at the time, but by putting together portfolio, pictures, and bios to showcase how skilled they were, I was essentially “branding” the team. This is how Ur Beauty Liaison was born and I wrote the book, The Art of Branding. ”

When she first started as UrBeautyLiaison, it was with a simple premise: Advocate for industry professionals and help make available to them the resources needed to have an exciting, active, and long career. At the same time, educating each professional about the importance of branding and networking. Word spread and beauty professionals from New York to Atlanta were contacting her to help put them together and help them book job opportunities that would help boost their reputation. Lydia started getting herself and those she now represented into all kinds of fashion and beauty events and shows including New York Fashion Week.

After her mother passed away in 2012, Lydia relocated to Georgia to get away and get a fresh new start. Parlaying her networking skills and newfound love for helping people “brand” themselves, she started working as the public relations specialist at a nonprofit that her “Auntie” started back in Philadelphia and expanded to Georgia. Not only did this “Auntie” know her mother, but she practically helped raise and mentor her through her middle and high school years. She became her second mom.

Now, A self-branded “Corporate Socialite” who believes that business should be fun, Lydia knows a thing or two about this, being someone who has had to transition quite a few times herself while building her own brand. Lydia struggled with how she was being perceived, what people may think and consumed with the idea of what being “professional” should look like, sound like and act like. But what happened was, Lydia lost sight of who she was by trying to be what she thought people expected her to be. She has since realized that by fully embracing who she is, what she looks like, and how she wants to experience and show up in her own life..she actually inspired others to do the same. She realized that as long as she remained true to who she was at her core, she can show up however she wanted and would still be seen as her authentic self.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

As a Fun & Lifestyle Coach, Lydia provides a safe space for playfulness and encouragement. Lydia believes that “adulting” is hard, especially as a high-profile executive or business owner where it feels like everyone is watching and waiting for you to “drop the ball”. This is why she also believes that it is necessary that those who are in business, especially those who are in a position of leadership, need to take time to have fun. When they are being playful, they tend to feel healthier, safer, almost like they did when they were kids, and maybe even better. Simply by playing, they reclaim their health, their community, their well-being, the energy of their youth. At times, she also supports by offering guidance to the client in their lifestyle as well as their chosen industry.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
“I am a Haitian-American native of Brooklyn, New York, raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and now residing in Metro Atlanta. I have a pretty big family. My favorite memories are of the birthday parties my mother used to throw every year for my dad and me. Our birthdays are just 12 days apart. So the family would come from all over to celebrate with us! It was always so great to see everyone!”

Some may say she was your stereotypical Caribbean. Being raised in a culture where the social system in Haiti offers limited support, people have to work for what they’ve got. Haitian people tend to be industrious, imaginative, resourceful and contrary to another unwelcome stereotype – hard working. Though born in Brooklyn, NY…this was not lost on Lydia. Her father, Isaac Pierre, embodied all of the above referenced characteristics and was one who turned every task he attempted into a business venture of sorts. A self-taught and quite exceptional mechanic by trade, she watched her father do everything from video production for the church community, chauffeur, house repair, and even dabble in the trucking business and still managed to be known as one of the most popular and funniest people in the community.

It seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because not only did Lydia inherit her father’s looks (the resemblance is uncanny), she showcases qualities and talents that are similar in that she had various jobs and roles throughout her academic and professional career that has helped her become more diverse in her experiences.

When Lydia took some time to really contemplate what she wanted and what her mission really is here, she realized that she had the answer all along. Which is: go deep with a few, and really savor the process of building the confidence and influence of elite and extraordinary professionals for immense social impact. After over 20 years of servicing mainly the beauty industry, Lydia decided to alter direction so she can share her passion of helping business owners and entrepreneurs like herself and give them the chance to become the best versions of themselves they know they could be, with The Corporate Socialite® in their corner as their guardian angel of all things LIFESTYLE. This includes their corporate life, their social life, as well as their overall personal brand. And having a blast while doing it! For Lydia, It’s not just a Brand..it’s a Lifestyle!
