Today we’d like to introduce you to Margaret Black.
Margaret, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Margaret Hood Black & Associates is a private mental health & substance abuse group practice. For over 20 years, we have been actively involved in serving the needs of children, adolescents, adults, families and marriages. I originally began my practice out in the Sugar Land area. At that time my mother was the Youth Minister at Prince of Peace, and she would refer families in crisis to me. Because of the long commute, it was difficult for her families to make the drive to Sugar Land. So, we did the next best thing, I came to Prince of Peace. Since I grew up at Prince of Peace, I had a desire to help others in the community that were struggling with depression, anxiety, marital problem, and difficult adolescents. Since 1995, I have been providing counseling services to the parishioners at Prince of Peace, and the local community.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles and challenge that I face is the ability to find a bilingual therapist. There is such a need in this area, but I haven’t been able to find one to join our team.
Margaret Hood Black & Associates – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We strive to help patients feel at ease while quickly assessing what is going on, why and how to fix it. My professional areas of interest and expertise include pre-marital and marital counseling, ADHD, parenting and oppositional teenage boys. I always enjoy a challenge and I enjoy working with the resistant adolescent boys, cutters, and marital affairs. Margaret also has a special interest in marriages, families, women and dreams.
