Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Araujo.
Mario, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Valera, Venezuela.
I went to the Universidad del Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela, to receive a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering in 1990.
Since 1990 I was involved in several large projects for the Oil & Gas Industry in Venezuela, participating in the design and construction of these projects as Project Engineer.
In 1993, I started to work with one of the largest manufacturing companies in Venezuela, Lufkin de Venezuela, S.A. starting in the management of the departments of Quality, Engineering, Planning, and finishing as the Manager of Operations, leading all the manufacturing operations until 2013.
In 2014 I was transferred to Spring, Texas, to lead the operations on TAMS Industries as the Manager of Operations. TAMS is also a manufacturing company related with the upstream sector in the Oil & Gas Industry.
I started my own business in 2016 with American Sourcing & Consulting Solutions. It was a result of the very large experience I reached during my extensive career of more than 25 years. Now I’m providing solutions in the sourcing and supplying of specialized materials and equipment. Also, I’m offering all my expertise to give consulting services in the Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing for companies in the United States of America and Mexico.
Now, I’m an American resident, and I hope to support the economy of this great Nation, and help and cooperate with the Oil & Gas Business in the Americas.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the Oil & Gas business, there are cyclical crises that affect the economy in our countries.
In fact, I believe that the Oil & Gas Industry is a challenge itself with many obstacles.
Due to the recent crisis, it caught me here in the United States, and I had to face my main challenge ever. I lose my Job in 2015, so this opportunity obligated me to found ASCS in 2016. The road traveled during the last two years has not been easy, mainly for a newly arrived immigrant, but at the same time, I’m very confident that the economy will be better in the coming years.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
ASCS is focused on the downstream sector of the Oil & Gas Industry.
ASCS offers solutions for the quality, engineering, supply chain and manufacturing processes of our clients. We can offer a very wide range of raw materials and equipment and also provide the best practices for the management of the manufacturing processes.
Respect, integrity, and effectiveness are our main values.
The technical knowledge we have in the oil business is our main strength.
What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
Perhaps today is not the best moment to open a new business due to the actual crisis, but for me, it is the proper time to start. I will be ready to work and grow in the coming years when the economy around the oil & gas business faces a rebound. My focus will be maintained in the Latin America markets in order to grow and expand my company in those countries.
Personally, I would like to grow as a person who can help my family and other people around me.
