Today we’d like to introduce you to Marta Renilla.
Woodlands Equestrian Club (also knows as WEC) was founded in 2010 by the Renilla Family, from Spain. As they call it, WEC is a Dressage training university for horses, besides being a place for riders of all ages and levels to learn the Olympic sport of Dressage. WEC sells import and local horses of different breeds, ages and perfectly trained to riders looking for their perfect Dressage match through their showcase European Dressage Horses. Visitors from all over North America find their next horse thanks to Marta Renilla´s guidance. WEC and EDH started thanks to the innate talent for Dressage of Marta Renilla, an International Grand Prix champion and possibly the best Dressage trainer in the Southwest. WEC also boards horses, organize cultural trips and it’s a clear example of a local business in our Woodlands community.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is never a piece of cake to start a business of this magnitude. But thanks to my passion and love for horses and Dressage plus my commitment to finding great homes for the horses I train, we have developed a solid reputation all over the country. If I had to mention my toughest moments I would have to say that delegating and finding right personnel.
Please tell us about WOODLANDS EQUESTRIAN CLUB and EUROPEAN DRESSAGE HORSES.
We are unique in what we do. The search for the perfect dressage horse (or one of any discipline) can be a long and frustrating process. I help the rider to make their horse shopping experience a real pleasure! Our Dressage horses showcase are all trained at Woodlands Equestrian Club, here in Houston, so buyers just need to do one stop in order to see a wide variety of horses! It is that easy! They do not need to worry about importing from Europe since we have already done it for them. My family and I are committed to our clients and will advise for the best sports horse for their specific needs… Since 2010, we specialize in Importing high-quality sports horses from the best breeders in Europe, Mexico & USA… so buyers don’t have to. Once the selected horses arrive in Houston, I train them and move them up in the levels… so by the time the client visits us, they can choose among a great variety of wonderful Dressage horses of different breeds, ages, colors, and sizes and with X rays available!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have called Woodlands Equestrian Club, Woodlands Equestrian Center. It´s a constant mistake for clients still today. Since English is our second language, in 2009 when we came with our business concept we did not realize that club would be more difficult to remember …
