Meet Matthew Pa of Menus.With.Matt in Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Pa.

Matthew, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For some years, I wanted to be a food blogger and share my experiences with others. It wasn’t till this year that I finally built up the courage to go forth. I wanted to be a little different than the norm and try to come up with a blog that had a different spin (since there are many foodies out there). My wife came up with the idea of “Menus with Matt”—a blog to not only share my food experiences and recommendations but also a blog that posts the menus! Not only was it a way to help other foodies determine if they wanted to eat there, but also what they would eat when they got there. In addition, is was a way to support local businesses and showcase their foods/beverages. We live in a very diverse city, and my goal is to showcase all the diverse foods we have to offer. So the handle @menus.with.matt came to be on July 14, 2019. Ever since then, I’ve been on an adventure of not only searching for places to explore but also building my name through a social media platform.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the biggest struggles I’ve come across is time and being able to do this financially. It can be expensive having to try different restaurants and trying more than one item so you can feature more of the menu. Having a full-time job, a family, and life itself, the time to go out and try different places has been difficult. It’s also difficult when I find a place that does not provide good quality food/beverages. I want to feature them, but I also don’t want to promote bad products or services.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
While there are many food bloggers out there, I would say my blog is a little different because I post menus and other information (i.e., locations, tips, promos). I enjoy being able to share my experiences through my Instagram and meet new people/businesses along the way.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My wife deserves a lot of credit because she was the one to really push me to do this. Being a photographer, she takes the pictures for me and helps me with posting to social media. She has always been a big support in this and many other things. None of this would have started unless it was for her. I also give gratitude to my fellow foodies. Some who have taken time to answer questions and give advice along the way. There’s many several friendly foodies that have helped me with tips and advice when I first began and who continue to like my posts and give feedback. My followers are a big support because without them I would have no reason to do this.
