Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa and Darrin Bridgman.
Melissa, Darrin – we’re so excited to hear your story. Please kick things off for us.
Where do we begin!!! We are a husband and wife team. Darrin has always had a passion to own his own DJ company. Melissa has always had a passion of being a business owner. Our name, Re-Spin Entertainment came from a night gambling at a casino… our favorite machine was one that gave us free ” Re-Spins” Re-Spinning music struck at Darrin, so that is where our name came from.
It started as a hobby… Darrin being in the hospitality industry for 20+ years, we started our company offering DJ and bartending services… Darrin bought some CHEAP equipment, (I mean CHEAP! Like 1K! LOL!) We thought we can do birthday parties, pool parties, etc… We had no clue how to advertise. So we went to GROUPON! Well low and behold, our first job from Groupon was a WEDDING! We were clueless! We went… Darrin did amazing behind the table. I (Melissa) took some pictures to add to our website. At the end of the night… WE WERE HOOKED… the bride kept ranting and raving how awesome he was… she was going to”blow us up on Bride to Bride.” WHAT in the WORLD is Bride to Bride? That night, since I was the Facebook guru, I took a peek. IT was pretty amazing.
We started small… our first full year, we did 74 weddings, all while both still working 9-5 jobs! Year 2, we did over 100 weddings and added a photo booth. Now, we are in our 3rd year, and we are in the books for 140+ weddings! We no longer work our 9-5’s! We are so happy being fully committed to our PASSION.
We went from just us… to 3 DJ’s, 2 photo booth attendants and 8 bartenders on staff. Our equipment went from 1 tiny little system to 3 full top of the line systems. We have 2 photo booths now as well!
Has it been a smooth road?
I wouldn’t say it’s been smooth! I have always worked for someone else, never on my own. THAT’s SCARY! Darrin worked in the hospitality industry and DJ’ing NIGHT CLUBS! The wedding industry was whole new ball game for us! Working for ourselves, learning the ropes in the industry, creating our contracts and planning forms, finding what worked for us was a challenge, but so rewarding. I think the biggest struggle for us was working our 9-5’s and trying to run a business that WASN’T supposed to become a BUSINESS! Haha! That’s a great struggle to have, right?
Every day for us is a new learning adventure. We learn something new every day. The biggest struggle with that is making sure we take what we learn and put it into action the best way possible for our clients.

We offer high-quality DJ, lighting, dancing on a cloud, a professional bubble machine for bubble exits, photo booth and bartending services. We strive ourselves on being the best we can be. We’re always looking to add high-quality equipment to offer our clients. This isn’t a job for us, this is our passion. Our passion to go above and beyond for our couples. Whether it be clearing tables, going and buying garters (LOL), referring other high-quality vendors, etc… you name it, we are truly here for our couples EVERY step of the way.
We always tell our couples that we aren’t just here for the music. When you book with us, you have our undivided attention throughout the whole process. It does not have to be music related. Most of our clients feel comfortable coming to us with any questions they have.
I feel that what sets us apart from other companies similar to ours in the industry that it is our passion to make our couples days as FLAWLESS as possible.
