Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Lacy.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We were just your normal, everyday couple. My girlfriend at the time, Taylor, had a job as a teacher, and I was working in sales for one of the largest organizations in the world.
We got married in 2014 and went to the Florida Keys for our honeymoon which is where everything flipped for us. It was during that trip when we realized we were over $61,000 in debt with very little money saved. Something had to give so for the first month of our marriage we had some pretty uncomfortable and intense conversations about our money habits.
16 months later, we overcame a job loss and a battle with chronic illness to become completely debt-free. After helping a few friends sort out their finances, I knew I wanted to find ways to talk about important money topics with other everyday couples just like us.
That’s when I decided I wanted to become a financial coach and start a blog – which I did and titled it Winning To Wealth. The name is based on our course curriculum where families work to achieve eight financial wins that help them build generational wealth.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not. As I mentioned, I lost what most would consider to be a relatively safe job halfway into our debt-free journey and worked for a food delivery service until I landed back in my field four months later.
The stress from that time period caused my wife to have a Lupus flare and she missed a month of work.
Even still today I deal with issues that just come from being the first generation to actively pursue wealth – like having family members depend on me to cover their basic necessities at times.
I also have a 1-year old to raise while learning the ins and outs of running and building a business. Both of which present their own unique and unexpected challenges every single day.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Winning To Wealth – what should we know?
Winning To Wealth is committed to showing regular families just like ours that it IS possible to build wealth even today. We accomplish this by not only sharing parts of our own personal journey but by providing families with practical tools to win with money themselves in our online course.
I’m most proud of the fact that the work we’re doing is changing entire legacies. The children of the couples in our course will grow up not even knowing debt. They, hopefully, won’t have the burden of sacrificing their goals and dreams to provide for an aging parent with no money.
They’ll hopefully see their parents modeling good financial behavior, and grow up to not only be good stewards themselves but, in turn, teach THEIR kids how to handle money.
To me, that’s the absolute best part of spreading financial literacy: knowing my work can positively impact future generations.

There are so many people I could name right now. I have to say-my wife and daughter are absolutely amazing for allowing me to spend so much of my time and energy helping other families.
Also, when I was at the lowest point in my life and was turning bitter towards the world, I met a lady named Alison Evers who not only moved me into her home but mentored me. I learned so much from her about life, perseverance, family, and business. She passed away from breast cancer a few years back, but I named my daughter after her because she was that special to me.
My life would be so different today had it not been for her not only seeing something in me but helping me see what I could offer the world as well.
