Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Reeves.
Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Yeah, I started making music at 15 years old!! Heard my old neighbors singing and was like woah, this sounds nice!! Walked next door and knocked on the door and that’s where it all started!! My love for music and creating. I’ve been producing and writing since I started!! Learned how to play the keys and mix and quantize all on my own!! A lot of folks for some reason don’t want to help with learning how to compose, mix and record, but I studied on my own and asked a lot of questions, and here we are! On the radios, traveled on tour dropped some albums and made good real R&B !! Hopefully, I can continue this and get better with time!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been far from it, false dreams being sold, people turn on you for greed, all type of things that you want to give up!! But you can’t, well I can’t. My love for music runs deep, when I’m away from it I feel as I’m away from the love of my life!! It’s my peace, my sanctuary!! Without, I wouldn’t have been able to express myself as I’ve been in the last couple of years!! But as far as a smooth road.
Tell us more about the business.
My business is going great!! My brother and I decided a few years back we wasn’t relying on people no more and started our own label called supreme!! We have a professional recording studio, t-shirt press, stage for live shows, and trying to be a one-stop-shop!!! We’re most proud of the progression and the connections we have been making deals with people like willie-d, Chris sails,twayne,traedatruth,ratchetblues and many more!!! What sets us apart from others, I believe it is staying true to what we believe is good music, speaking about real everyday problems and emotions!! Family-oriented and driven.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
No luck at all had to grind for every opportunity that has come my way!! Literally from making rap songs for the clubs to play me somehow even though I’m an R&b artist!! I had to find a way in business fast, and that was my way!! Nothing as luck has come, but I honestly can’t wait for it to hit me lol.
