Today we’d like to introduce you to Miriam Pedraza.
Hi Miriam, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
How I got started, well I was working for a family owned business for almost 5 years, I was a single mom with no dreams (just yet, of becoming a business mom) I knew I had to push through and do better and become successful for my only daughter at the time, so working for someone else was my only option. I loved my job but I knew one day I had to something else better for me and my daughter. To provide a better future for us, but it was hard, being a single mom was hard. After a few years, I then met my husband we were dating for a while before it got serious and I decided to take a break, I was a bit nervous because I was clueless of my next step in life, just to find out after a few months later that I became pregnant with my son. I realized then I hit a very rough patch on trying to start my business after giving birth and the fact that I had to adjust my life with my husband, becoming a stay at home mom with a new born, my 9-year-old daughter and two step-daughters of ages 11 and 5 now, I thought to myself this was never going to be possible. But after two years of long stressful days and nights, lots of prayers and with the support of my husband, kids and family I was able to achieve my dream and open up my very own office. Yes my office is behind my house and it’s a tiny office but I am extremely proud of the successful mom business owner I have become. I was beyond excited, yet extremely nervous. I was still in my early 20’s and starting a business where you will be dealing with people’s money and personal life. I knew that I had it in me to be successful at what I knew best, which was helping my clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has its good and bad moments, I deal with all kinds of clients, but I always strive to do my very best!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My main profession is a Tax Preparer, I prepare Personal taxes (also I do ITIN Registrations) Small business Taxes, Corporation Taxes as well; I then started offering bookkeeping, payroll, Notary services, title transfers, Registration of business.
What sets me different from others I believe is that I try my best to focus on helping my clients to receive the best service I can present to them. To me is not all just charge the client and for them not to come to me the following years. I want my clients to stay with me because the work I do, I do it to help them in the best way I can.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The Risk taking on my profession can be challenging due to the fact that I am working with very important documents that get presented to the IRS. To me that is me working carefully and getting the work done the right and legal way! It is a very stressful job, extremely stressful but yet rewarding at times when the client sees all the hard work and effort that is inputted at the time of any document or work that is being prepared. My knowledge and time I take to be up to date with all the laws changes, new updates, seminars, have the right software and the right supplies sure does take a lot for a small business owner, but yet here I am doing the best I can to offer the best for my clients.
Yes, we all make mistakes we are human we also learn from them & by learning you should only better yourself not just for you but for the business, the clients, and your family.
