Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Barr.
Molly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I became interested in photography by watching my dad. He’s been using a camera for most of his life. Watching him capture different places and people over the years inspired me to follow his path. Photography has been a hobby of mine for about 5 years now and it has quickly become a passion. I learn so much each time I use my camera and I get better with each photo shoot I do.
Has it been a smooth road?
It really has been a smooth road for me. I do this because I love it and have so much fun doing it. Being self-taught, I love growing from the mistakes I do make. I’m human. My photography isn’t always perfect, but that’s what makes the journey of improvement and progress so meaningful. When I first started, I was only doing 1-2 photo shoots a year. Now, I’m up to 20-25 sessions. I’m slowly growing year after year. I had no idea this would grow so much. This adventure really has been a hobby for family and friends since I’ve started. But, I plan on being licensed, full-time business by this time next year.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
As much as I love photographing places, nature and still life objects just for my own personal wants, I am known for portrait photography. I have done just about everything- weddings, bridals, engagements, baby, family, maternity, high school and college seniors and parties. Seniors are definitely my favorite. I love having fun with the sessions, keeping them relaxed and light-hearted so that everyone is comfortable. That’s when I get the best candid shots. I take most pride in keeping my post editing to a minimum. I like keeping the photos as natural as they should be, capturing the natural beauty of my clients without masking them with a bunch of editing and filters. I want my clients to know their beauty and to see it when they get their photos back. My ultimate goal is to make my clients feel beautiful and self-confident.
