Meet NaTasha NiCole of Highly Hungry Edibles & Infusion in Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to NaTasha NiCole.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey started at home with my mother Willie Mae Richardson-Kirks, who was by far the biggest inspiration to me. Willie was diagnosed with Stage three Breast Cancer in 2010, after a rigorous regiment of chemo and radiation, my mother’s health began to fail. My mom was on so many different medications for pain, insomnia, loss of appetite, blood pressure, the list goes on so much so I woke up and said NO MORE! At this time, I was working for a very popular hospital in Houston, TX and with four years of medical experience, I said to my mom, at least three of your issues can be solved right now, with Cannabis. Willie told me smoking was out of the question, I had just enrolled in culinary school part-time and it hit me quickly let’s put it in the food!

My mother and I infused everything from pecan pies to Oxtails. The infused foods gave my mother so much visible relief from pain, she was eating enough for 2, we realize at that moment Cannabis Cures. My only regret in life was that we didn’t try it sooner, my mother passed away 9/24/14. That day a seed was planted in me to get there sooner. In 2015 I packed my bags moved to Denver Colorado where I got to work with Cannabis Growers, Cannabis Chefs, attended seminars on thc and cancer, watch countless TED talks on cannabis, all while working for some of the top Cardiologist in Denver. I gained the necessary knowledge on safe Infusion and how to effectively use cannabis in all forms. Now my goal and purpose is to get there sooner for that IBS, ptsd, epileptic, cancer, eating disorder, chronic pain, nerve pain, patient/persons, and help them feel relief. I now have a personal catering company called Highly Hungry Edibles & Infusions where I can do just that. We specialize in Sober/CBD/THC infused cuisine, giving food and knowledge as much as we can to anyone that’s not afraid of trying something different. Cannabis is not a drug it’s medicine created by God to heal.

Has it been a smooth road?
No. The journey has not been smooth, I started my company over at least three times, gaining exposure from social media platforms you have to follow rules when you don’t they shut you down. So I did my own marketing, promotions and accounting every time the company page got shut down. I never gave up! Once I was coming home from Denver to drop off my aunt and visit family. As soon as I got on the freeway to leave Denton’s city limits a cop saw my Colorado license plate and pulled me over for no reason other than my CO plates. The officer asked for my Drivers License and insurance I was very compliant, the officer came back to the car and said everything is all clear but asked could he search my car without probable cause, I refused telling him I have been driving do 13 hours and I want to go home. The officer called in a K-9 unit I was on the side of the road at 4am for 45-60mins. The officer performed what my lawyer called an illegal search.

During this search the officer found an oz of cannabis legally prescribed to me in my luggage, the officer took me to jail although I wasn’t driving under any influences. I had spent two days in Denton prison processing the idea that my illness and legal prescription means nothing in the state of TX. My case was thrown out with insufficient evidence. Which sparked my interest in cannabis activism, I was grateful for God’s Grace the situation could have been worse. The bumps and bruises along this road makes me stronger but with the support and love from my family and God coverings, there’s nothing that can stop me. The smoothest roads are made from rocks that have endured heat, pounding, pressure and flattening. I know I can’t avoid bumps and bruises on my journey but I can buckle up and prepare for the ride.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the Chef and Owner of Highly Hungry Edibles and Infusions. I specialize in cannabis food infusion, my company promotes health wellness through herbal medicine. As a company, I’m proud of the people we help and how far we have come. The one thing that separates us from any other company is our care and concern our goal is to reach out to everyone we serve, to see their reaction to our meals, how to make it better and more suitable for our customers.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like Houston is a great city to start any business however there are rules that need to be followed. In my case, THC is not legal in Houston to sell so we cook with CBD. However, once Houston’s views on THC change it will be a huge successful improvement.

Pricing:

  • CBD infused meals start at $50 and increase as potency strengthens.
  • THC infused meals start at $55 and increase as potency strengthens. l.
  • Sober meals start at $40 and increase with the meal item
