Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Hoehn.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I completed cosmetology school at San Jacinto College. While attending San Jac, I competed in an exclusive student-only Hair Competition sponsored by Visible Changes where I won Second Place in the competition. Upon winning the competition and leaving College, Visible Changes offered me a position at the Galleria Location where I was trained as a Master Colorist. I was at the Galleria Location for 2 years. In 2012, I moved to the Baybook location and I was there for 5 years. During my time with Visible Changes, I competed in 4 Hair Competitions sponsored by VC that had approximately 60 contestants in each competition. My innovated designs of Hair, Makeup and Costume brought me 2 First Place wins and 2 Second Place wins, With the wins of these competitions, VC offered me an opportunity to try out for their Elite Artistic Team, which I joined in 2014. During my time on the Artistic Team, I did Hair and Makeup for Fashion Shows and Photo Shoots and assisted some of the Industries top artist’s with companies like Paul Mitchell, Nioxin, Keratin Complex and more. In 2015, I was asked to be a trainer for Wella International Hair Care. While with Wella International I was trained in Wella color techniques and taught these techniques to the Colorist at VC. 1 1/2 years ago. I decided to leave VC and begin my own business and started Nicole Anne Hair Studio. I began my studio with Sola Salons where I opened my own studio. Over the year, my clientele grew to where I needed a larger space and I have recently moved to My Salon Suites.
Has it been a smooth road?
My road has been pretty smooth, I have enjoyed much success in my career. It began in college with the Hair Competition, I took Second Place in and from there getting immediately hired with one of Texas largest hair companies to winning multiple Hair Competitions to owning my own business.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nicole Anne Hair Studio story. Tell us more about the business.
Nicole Anne Hair Studio is an independently owned Hair Studio known for specializing in all types of Color Application from Ombre, Balayage, highlights, color corrections, bright fantasy colors and more, I am certified in Brazilian Blow-Outs, Keratin Smoothing Treatments, Extensions and more. I am most proud to have a place to call my own where my clients can come and relax, be themselves, learn something to help them with their hair care needs and leave feeling and looking beautiful. I pride myself in keeping up to date with the current trends, styles, and techniques and strive to educate each client on what colors, styles, and at home care best suits each guests hair type and lifestyle which sets me apart from others.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the beauty industry shifting to the Salon Suite rentals which we have seen take a huge uprising in the last 2 years. It is truly the best way to be a Salon owner but not have all the liability of having your own building/store front and all the things that come along with that. The salon suites offer you the chance to be your own boss and have your own salon, control your hours and prices and what services you offer, and you provide the opportunity to make more money, It also is a one-stop shop, where you have hairstylists, massage therapists, estheticians, lash technicians and more all in one building, Clients can find multiple people within these salons to fulfill their beauty needs.
