Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Berry.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nikki. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in a small town called Ville Platte, Louisiana; but grew up in Beaumont, Texas. It was in Beaumont that my musical journey began.
I developed my musical talents and interests at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James C. Franklin. I began leading songs at a very young age, and with the coaching of director Bonnie Wilridge, my voice began to evolve into something special. I was well known for my singing all over town and was named most talented of my graduating class of West Brook Senior High School.
After graduating high school, I attended Prairie View A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science, in Mechanical Engineering. I then relocated to Houston, Texas and that became my new home. I have worked for major Engineering companies in the Houston area, but never lost my love for music. I began writing music in 2008 after experiencing some difficult times in my life. The music encouraged me to push through and never stop trusting in God; so I decided it was time to encourage others!
My husband and I started our own record label; Reviving Dreams Enterprises and launched Nikki Berry Music, a subsidiary company that offers Inspirational Gifts & Apparel. This is where you will find the Restoration Line of Candles. A line of hand-poured custom soy blend candles for meditation and relaxation. Each candle is named after songs on my upcoming album.
The development of my unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in the church as an active choir member and praise and worship leader meant that I was always surrounded by Christian and Gospel music.
My new single “Show Me Your Glory” has graced the top ten of the Top 100 Singles Billboard Chart this year. I am scheduled to release my first full Album on Nov. 9, 2018, at the Buffalo Soldier’s Museum in Houston, TX. God has given me a gift to write and sing; so I am honoring God and pursuing my calling!
Has it been a smooth road?
I think some of the struggles have been staying focused and time management. Life can sometimes get in the way of your dreams and cause you to not move forward, but I have found a way to keep striving. Everything has not worked out like I planned or in my timing, but I realize it is exactly how it was supposed to be.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nikki Berry Music story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a singer and a songwriter. I am a National Gospel Recording Artist who has her own label with my husband Derick Berry as my partner and business manager. I offer uplifting, inspirational music for all people from all backgrounds and walks of life. My Nikki Berry Music Company specializes in inspirational gifts and apparel. We have inspirational t-shirts and The Restoration Line of Candles, with more items coming soon. What sets me apart from others is my heart for people. I truly want my music and my inspiration line to encourage people to get over past hurts, depression and tragedies. I want them to see the bright side of life and know it’s worth living with God’s help!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see tremendous growth over the next 5-10 years. I see my music reaching international exposure, touching lives everywhere. I see The Restoration Line in several stores worldwide with booming online sales as well. I see my outreach music ministry making a positive impact in shelters, missions, prisons, and communities across the globe.
