Meet Norma Dominguez of Los Anafres Cuisine in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norma Dominguez.

Norma, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am from Mexico City, my family and I decided to move here to USA in 2007, and we realized that there wasn’t an authentic Mexican food option, so my parents started a small business named “La Cochinita de mi suegra”, I used to help them in the cooking part, and we noticed that people liked it, but in 2009 hurricane Ike forced us to stop, then we started other ventures, I got married, had children and our life changed completely, but the idea of having our own business never stopped, in the meantime I enjoyed my children and am looking forward to new possibilities.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, the journey wasn’t easy, as an immigrant, it’s a process. I think the big challenge is to believe in yourself, no matter where are you from, your economy situation or your Hispanic accent. You just need to keep preparing yourself day by day, keep doing whatever you like and do what you are good at, do it with all your passion and the rest comes naturally, and never forget to thank God.

Los Anafres Cuisine – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Los Anafres Cuisine it’s a catering business, we do international cuisine but specialize in Mexican food. The people know us because of our delicious food, our fabulous decor and our exceptional service, I am proud to have the opportunity to work with my family, to keep my parents dream alive, to have our own family business and the chance to bring the authentic Mexican food to my new USA community, it is like a dream come true. As I said, we are a family business so we treat our costumers as a family members, providing them with the best quality, respect and gratitude, thanks everyone that believes in Los Anafres.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my life is to demonstrate myself that I can do it. And if I can do it, everyone can do it too, every smile, every hug, every handshake, and every thank you word from my costumers make me feel to keep doing what I am doing, but day by day, there is more room to grow and be an inspiration to others, that everything is possible.
