Meet Norvella Smith of Queen Speaks Life in Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norvella Smith.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Norvella. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
A native of Houston’s Northside, Acres Homes, Texas is also known to some as the “44”! Still a young woman at heart. I grew up with six siblings in a two-parent dysfunctional family.  I am currently the mother of two children Derrian and Tanisha, grandmother to one- Princess Paris.  I finally found love with King Jared.  I am a graduate of Eisenhower High School and hold a Masters Degree in Business Administration. I’m active in my community, a member of Fallbrook Church, an active member of QueenLYFE (Love yourself First Everyday) and inducted into the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Houston Chapter, April 2018.

My journey with Queen Speaks Life actually began in my head and heart some time ago, but manifested after I experienced some relationship hurt, challenges with self-esteem, betrayal, brokenness, triumph and finding peace that caused me to stretch my Faith like never before! I discovered that my Capacity still had a depth that was immeasurable. I began writing inspirational motivations and just words of encouragement to my friends and family on social media.  I began to believe what God says about me and believe that I am a Queen with Value!!  I began to love myself and see Queen Norvella, Date Queen Norvella and Push her to Capacity!!  I began to Believe in myself!

Belief is a powerful thing! I believe in my personal opinion that if you think negative; you produce negativity, but when you decide that you will believe the report of the Lord and what he says about you; your life gets sweeter than the day before. I would never say to anyone that the process is easy, but I can tell you that making the decision is easy and it starts in your head and your heart.

My passion for encouraging and spreading inspiration was a natural talent that was already within me, but God has ordained and pushed it into overflow.  I love inspiring the world and people around me.  I truly believe that when you are helping someone else to be a better person and impacting the world in a positive manner, you are then walking in your purpose.

I joined Toastmasters International back in 2003 and began my journey of public speaking which I never realized I could do. I also found myself putting together a speech with very little effort and in some instances off the cuff that would turn out to be better than a well-prepared speech. I am now a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) and I absolutely love public speaking.

The writing of a book began, but the current published work started just two years ago and it has been a project that is still blowing my mind today! The lives that it change and the inspirational boost that it produces still amazes me, but I am more amazed at the blessings and Favor that comes when I hear the feedback from someone who reads the book. I owe it all to God who has His hands all over this project and He has made me His mouthpiece to share my testimony with the world.

The book that is spreading inspiration across the Country, One Book and One Life at a time, “The Capacity To Believe_Know Your Value.” This book challenges its readers to journal their own journey. I believe that everyone has a book in them and a story to tell. Not everyone will want to tell their story, but journaling is therapy and good for the soul. When you walk through the process yourself, then you are better equipped to serve as a witness to others. This is not a feel-good story and every piece of the story could not be pretty, but I found a way to see the positive even in bad situations. You see, I strongly believe that the end of my relationship prior to the book was a huge blessing because it catapulted me into my destiny.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has definitely not been a smooth road. Some of my major struggles included finding out that I was hearing impaired at the age of 6, with a tumor in both ears by age 7 and dealing with all of the doctor appointments, the surgeries, missing school, missing out on conversations and not hearing the details. Things that we take for granted like birds chirping and the sound of running water. I experienced highs and lows, heartbreak, that simply beat up my self/esteem and left me forgetting my value as an individual. Broken marriages that lead to single parenting, financial struggles, poor decision making and just losing myself. I allowed the struggles and the down-sides of life to rule me and my decisions instead of me ruling it. I allowed all of what happened to me to cause me to act as a victim instead of a victor!!

Queen Speaks Life – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My Business is called Queen Speaks Life and under that company, I birthed the Published book/journal called, “The Capacity To Believe_Know Your Value.” I am most proud of this book because it is spreading inspiration across the Country and really impacting people in a positive way. This book sets me apart from so many others because it is my personal journey and testimony. What better way to reach others than through your walk and experience. People hear your message better when you speak from the heart. In this book, I am transparent and my message to others is a positive one that no matter what happens, there is always something positive that we can glean from the situation. The outcome does not always have to result in fear, defeat or unhappiness.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far has been the invitation as the keynote speaker and speaking to a sold-out crowd at a large local church and selling my books at the close of the event. It was an absolutely amazing experience that I will never forget.
