Today we’d like to introduce you to Padon Suber.
Hi Padon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
To start off, I have been a musician since my early youth. Of course, my music foundation comes from playing at my church. My first experience as a performer started in high school within a boy group named Futures Promise, performed locally throughout Houston till my senior year of 08’ where I was recruited by the management of an already established group name Mason Rd. At the time we were managed by Mathew Knowles management team. Though the Mason Rd group was short-lived (2008-2010) it exposed me to an abundance of experience in the music industry as I was able to become well acquainted to the at the time risings stars Day 26 who are known from “making the band”. During the 10’ I ventured to focus on honing my musicianship and join a band as the bass player /keyboardist accompanying my Brother Phillip Suber, Casey Martinez, Sydney Jones, and the collective artist Enter-lect. We were known as Hybrid Soulz, after releasing one EP and touring the local stages of Houston, we decided to discontinue the band in 13’. I was soon invited to become a band member for Kristal Cherelle. We gained attention from the Houston chronicles. We were winners in the Hard Rock Cafe battle of the bands competition in Houston in 15’. I took a break from stage performances for a while, went into teaching music for a private school. I started creating songs with GarageBand in detail to the lessons being taught and it caught on. My closest friends and family suggested I should consider taking songwriting and composition serious, so I did. In ’19, I begin writing and creating songs back to back, it was my enlightening period. In ‘20 we experienced co-vid which gave me time to focus on my music I release my first EP “Love vibes” as an independent artist. Later that year I released the my first album “U, only you”. I being gain attention during 21’ with my single “Antidote” which intrigued Podcaster and host Dj Marq, who later invited me to do an interview on his show for the album release of “if it’s poison I’m your antidote. That interview stands to be the top 45th global interview and 71st on the global funk-soul-jazz chart. ‘22 I have been nominated for music direction and orchestrated for Broadway achievement alongside of Amos Smith for a play production “super freak: because of Rick James”. My music has been streamed in 50 countries so far. I have been locally singing at Phil& Derek’s, Empire state Jazz cafe and more venues are in the works.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Very bumpy start. I honestly admit that I still learning how to avoid unnecessary struggles of becoming a successful artist. When first jumped into becoming and artist, I struggled with finding my sound, my personality as an artist. I had to learn how to discern from beneficial connections and those who basically scammers. Money has always been an issue, and knowing how to better invest in products and services will push me forward. And my biggest struggle was learning to share the load, I would wear myself down making all the music and promotions on my own instead of collaborating with people who were specifically gifted in those areas.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in composing, writing, and producing music. Though I am an independent artist, I also take on positions as a hired musician for musicals and special events. I currently play bass and keyboard for an upcoming band ( Blaque vinyl) as well as hold a title as Music Director for Ministry known as Strait Life. I am most proud of my improvements as a composer and writer, every day I study to become better, you can hear the results in my chronological release.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Houston is my home, I was born here. I may be weird but I love everything about Houston, the daily traffic, moody weather changes, and never-ending construction its all a part of the characteristics of Houston. Houston has always been a place of opportunity, and I appreciate that even more now that it pertains to me. This city is so huge and diverse, you can never be without the entertainment of sorts on any time of the week. My Favorite thing about Houston is the support that comes from it. Houstonians support their own.
