Today we’d like to introduce you to Pam Harris.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Pam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up on an apple farm in upstate NY and was a natural salesperson at the age of 8 at our local fruit stand. From there I left for Texas to make my fame and fortune and was in the architectural woodwork and construction after 5 years of commercial real estate. I sold the mahogany doors we built Door to Door in River Oaks at the age of 24.
I spent 23 years in construction and entered into Real Estate in 2001 where I was Rookie of the Year and have been blessed to be in the top 5% ever since. I invest in real estate, am familiar with 1031 Exchanges to defer taxes for investors. I have a passion for real estate and assisting folks in attaining the American Dream whether it’s leasing, selling or buying. I have my Certified International Property Specialist designation and am fervently learning Spanish. I specialize in first-time homeowners as well as Senior Transitions including auction services for divesting of unnecessary furnishings. I am blessed to have a business based on repeat an referral business and even more blessed to have my oldest daughter Ashley Copeland as my Partner.
Has it been a smooth road?
The construction industry was tough at 24 years old 35 years ago. The job superintendents would chuckle when I asked them to come to the van to see the beautiful doors I made. I had my helpers build me little doors I could carry in and as a result, the largest job we did was all of the millwork in a 38,000 s.f. house in River Oaks, a wealthy neighborhood. We were blessed to work in Bob McNair’s home and many others of the rich and famous. After being divorced at 41, God led me to real estate, a natural extension of what I had been doing for many years.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Pams Home Team Real Estate story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is 100% referral and repeat business. I have 350 past clients who receive calendars throughout the year, 100 A clients who receive an extra information sheet once and month and 45 clients who I “pop by” and deliver small gifts to every month to remind them how much we appreciate them. I am 24/7 and am always available to assist first time buyers to senior transitions, scaling down, assistant living etc. This baby boomer population will continue to grow and we will strive to do more and more to assist them into senior living including referrals for assisted living, auction services etc.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Shifts will include a growing population of Baby Boomers, this division will continue to be developed as well as International business, striving to be fluent in Spanish. Millennial are having increasing difficulty attaining home ownership and this awareness will inspire new avenues to make the American Dream possible for them.
