Meet Quincy Lee of Raw Produce Houston in East Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Lee.

Quincy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, the brand started about two years ago. It started with two different ideas “Raw Matreials” and “Produce”. Two separate ideas became hard to maintain. So I ended up merging the two and that’s how I came up with the name Raw Produce. With so many ideas hitting me, it stop me from releasing clothes. All for the lack of not nothing what to do next. For one it was hard to get my logo printed in the size I wanted, and two, it cost a lot to keep putting money into the printing and mistakes were happening. Unconsciously I just sat back for the last couple of years and I ended up recently taking a dyi approach. I had an idea to just stencil the logo on the back of the shirt, and it became what I envisioned.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Only struggles I would say would be, not having a manufacture. So trying to finding unique items can be a challenge. And also a lot of self-doubt. You just gotta push through it and get to the other side and see how you feel about that idea one day to a week later.

Raw Produce Houston – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Raw Produce is a clothing brand. Built from ground up, and we appreciate things being used creatively in their natural state. I myself work a regular job tryna trying to turn something into something. Amongst my friends, I’m probably known for continuously coming up with a project and trying to see what sticks. As a company, I’m proud in the direction we’re taking the brand and I’m proud to see people reacting to it the way they have. What sets us apart from other brands is how hands on we are with our product. It’s all hand printed by me and my friend Tyrone Matthews and will continue to be that way because creatively, I love being involved in all processes.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is acceptance for what I put out in the world. If what I can do, can be accepted and hold appreciation. That’s all that matters because then I would’ve added my touch to the culture of whom I’m part of.
